So, I have an unlimited amount of love for historical romances, especially with brooding, heroic Highlanders wearing kilts and gorgeous smiles.I just want to thank Sharon Cullen for delivering a perfect tale of the love, bravery, passion, and turmoil. Colin MacLean and Maggie Sinclair aren’t the typical hero and damsel pair. Colin saves Maggies just as much as Maggie saves Colin, and that is what makes this book so special. Colin has plenty moments of self-doubt and shows some weakness, whereas Maggie stays strong for the both of them. Colin accepts her for who she is, despite that sometimes he’d rather she listen to him more often, especially during the difficult time. Maggie refuses to be what everyone expects her to be and refuses to behave in the proper way.In the end, her stubbornness and Colin’s perseverance pays off.

I adored reading this book! It has become one of my favorites and now I have to backtrack and read the first in the series, though it isn’t necessary. I can’t wait until book three come out and we all find out the secrets of Laird Campbell! I recommend this book to all romance lovers!

Maggie and Colin meet while in prison. Colin has found a way out, but won't leave without the young man that has been his cellmate. Colin soon learns that his former cellmate is actually a woman. He can't believe that she found in the battle.

Maggie was raised by her brother, so she didn't have a female influence growing up. When her brother marries, she is suddenly made to feel that they way she is, is inappropriate. She wanted to fight for her country, so she does.

I really like this story. The banter between Maggie and Colin had me laughing out loud. Once Colin found out Maggie was a girl, oh boy, the chemistry was red hot! This is definitely a book I would recommend reading. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, Campbell's Redemption.
