First off let me say I'm not religious at all so my review is completely honest and unbiased - I think that this book was beautiful. It was illustrated so well and I thought that the concept was great, a really enjoyable read. I oved some of the questions that were posed, for me, it makes you realise the innocence of children that we should cherish all the more.

It’s no secret that Pope Francis loves kids. It didn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that a book of exchanges between him and children would make one of the best books this year. And it certainly did.

It may surprise you the depth and breadth of the questions, however. Children, lacking the filter and life experiences of adults, have the courage to ask the hard questions and in this book, Pope Francis gives answers that are both appropriate for children and thought-provoking for adults.

I tried reading this book to my 4-year-old. I was quite proud that he was able to sit and pay attention for 3 or 4 letters at a time. He loved the illustrations. Each letter contains pictures by the children. His favorite illustration was:

Of course, a sword fight between Jesus and the Devil. He bounced around the house for a while afterwards, acting out the fight. I wonder which side he was playing. It was never very clear.

My favorite part was Pope Francis’ response to a boy who had asked, “Why did God make humans knowing we would sin?”

That kid is gonna be a theologian one day. Mark my words! And how appropriate an answer for everything that is wrong in the world right now.

As you can see from my examples, this book has stuff for all ages. Someday, when I have a coffee table, I will totally buy a hardcover version of this book for it. This book has something for children, teenagers, adults, the elderly, everyone! Children will love the illustrations, the simple questions, and the pictures of other children. Teenagers and adults will love the simple, yet profound answers that will give them plenty to think about and take to prayer.
