Loved a strong woman knowing what she wants. Also love reading historicals where women have jobs and close friends.
This was just an ok read for me. The H/H have lusted after each other for some time but have never acted on it. Suddenly when the hero is there more regularly, something happens...just didn't do much for me.
This trio of Governess books is sweet and spicy. In each of the books, the Governess in question is doing her job, raising a society family’s children for them. The job requires that the employee keep her head down, repress her own personality, and watch out for wayward impulses, family members and co-workers. For the most part, Elizabeth, Mary, and Jane are stellar at their jobs, except for that minor matter of keeping their own personalities repressed.
Elizabeth is in love with the family physician (Wicked). Mary with the master of her house (Wanton), and Jane with Sir Nicholas Hollings (Wild). The trio have each other’s love and support as they work through the obstacles between them and their individual HEAs.
Elizabeth is the governess to two adorable little girls. However, due to their parents personalities, one of them has the habit of pretending she's ill in order to get a little more attention and perhaps attention of their parents. It is up to Elizabeth to comfort and take care of them, which means that if they are ill she calls on the family doctor. But Doctor Edward Fellows is young, attractive and very understanding. They quickly become friends and realize that there is something more to their budding friendship. But how could a doctor who is on the verge is of leaving for America and a governess be anything more?
What a great little novella. An absolute pleasure to read. The characters seem to fall in love quickly, which usually frustrates me, but that wasn't the case here. Because though they were struck with each other they did take the time to get to know each other. Heartwarming and at points even heartbreaking, I couldn't put it down, but had to read to the end.
Unfortunately this never downloaded to my kindle. Cannot review unfortunately
Nicely developed characters. I am not sure which books I have read by Julia Kelly before but this is a nice average romance novel.
The Governess was Wicked by Julia Kelly
A governess relies on her reputation. They are the women at the top of their field. These three woman are friends through their work and their circumstance.
Elizabeth is the epitome of elegance as a governess. She is very strict in her strictures and determined to provide the best education for her charges. She is in a house where the employers are not the most caring and sharing people. They are more concerned about appearances and where this is likely to take them, into the elite circles via any connection. One of the girls has been pretending to be sick so the doctor can come to the house. While Elizabeth is concerned about any illness, she doesn’t mind seeing the good doctor. Then the girls get scarlet fever, and the parents leave the house with the baby, and heir, leaving Elizabeth to care for the two girls. She is exhausted which is noticed by the doctor.
Edward Fellowes is new to being a doctor. He is keen to look at new ideas and will be travelling to America to advance his knowledge. He really likes Elizabeth but is reluctant to push her. He can’t wait until he sees her again. An indiscretion with the doctor leads to Elizabeth being fired. Edward finds he wants Elizabeth more than the internship in America but first he has to find her.
This was a great and quick read. Both the characters are likeable although a little frustrating at times especially when Edward needs to convince Elizabeth of his affection and love for her. It is her friends who convince Elizabeth to take the chance. I would like something to happen to the two hypocrite employers, but that may be another time.

Elizabeth's two young pupils have a huge crush on the doctor and a tendency to fake illnesses to have him make a visit. Elizabeth herself is not immune to the Doctor's charms, and he seems to reciprocate her feelings. As a governess she should have a reputation beyond reproach, but the Doctor is just to tempting. A fun, wicked Regency Romance.
