These are delicious classic recipes, but I wish that there were photos. I'm better at making a recipe turn out if I know what it was supposed to look like.
I received this cookbook for free from NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers, in exchange for my honest opinion. That is all it is, my honest opinion.
Lots of great classic recipes!! Already made a few, cannot wait to try more. There is scripture included with the recipes. The recipes are easy to follow instructions and inexpensive mostly pantry ready ingredients. Photos would have been nice. Photos give us, the readers and potential cooks, the confidence in the final product, which in turn, gives us confidence in you, the author. Some may not attempt, due to not knowing what to expect.
Would recommend to any level though, some very simple recipes and some recipes, most will be familiar with. Thanks for the recipes!
There are some really good soups and stews here! I enjoyed reading and then trying a few of these recipes. I'm sure I'll be making many more of them in the future.
You don't have to be necessarily familiar with the Amish culture to start preparing some of the recipes from this book. Actually, you don't even need to be an experienced cook to succeed. Written in a very accessible way, rich in ingredients and with simple directions, this book offers a lot of solutions for the long cold days of the winter. The preparation time might be a bit long, but the results are rewarding and you can serve it for more than once. I particularly loved the big selection of soups some of them rich enough to be served as a unique independent meal. Strongly recommended to big hungry families keen to try some nourishing recipes this autumn and winter.
