Wonderful whodunit that keeps you hanging on until the end. Lots of twists and turns in the story. Interesting and complex characters that help tell the story. Good read.
In Patricia Wentworth’s, The Blind Side, Ross Craddock is murdered, and everyone is a suspect. But when Lee Fenton sleepwalks through the crime scene, she becomes the center of the investigation. Will Inspector Lamb be able to sift the evidence before the real perpetrator gets away?
The Blind Side is a typical English mystery in which suspects abound, romance blooms, and subterfuge is common. The plot starts with a disagreement, develops into a distraction, and leads to a death. The pace of the narrative slows down a third of the way through the book. I don’t know if it’s the writing style or the stilted dialogue that makes it difficult to read, but if one is patient, the climax is stunning. It is almost worth the wait. If you like the Miss Silver Mysteries, you will find The Blind Side entertaining.
Patricia Wentworth is hot right now, and some of our book clubs are planning to read several of her books - I am so glad that they have been reissued.
This is not a Miss Silver mystery, but it is very enjoyable. Love her descriptive writing, and her strong characters.
Blind Side introduces is the first of Elliot Lamb's series.
