Overall, I can't really say I enjoyed this book so much as I can say that I wanted to finish the book simply to see if my early prediction was correct.

There were a lot of references in the book that were great for an adult, but I'm just not sure they would have the same effect on a child who hasn't had the same exposure. The story itself wasn't exactly scary and I figured out the ending early on. It's getting to be a bit of a cliche.

My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children's/Knopf Books for Young Readers for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

Got 4% into it and hard DNF. The plot is that this bookstore geared towards only selling scary books is going out of business because "people don't/aren't reading". I think it's because the owner of the store is a HUGE jerk and is rude to his prospective customers. I don't know about you, but I am not going to give someone my money when they do nothing but insult me. I will take my custom elsewhere.

I don't want to read about rude people who think they are better than everyone else and who blame all of their problems on everyone else. That just hits too close to home during this election year.

1, definitely not for me and I'm not sure for whom, stars.

This is a great story, with imaginative rooms in the bookstore and a wonderful twist at the end. I think that my students would enjoy this book. Be sure to read the Author's Note after the end of the story, too!
