Samantha Chase is a force to be reckoned with. All her stories are ones that I love to read about because at the end of the day, they’re about true love. The path to true love isn’t always easy and Chase does well with making sure we are satisfied in the end.

The whole time I was reading the book, I wasn't sure if I wanted to hug Quinn or smack him. He just seemed to torture poor Anna for no reason. He was portrayed as selfish for the past 15 years and poor Anna was always there for him. At least she started to learn how to be able to say no to Quinn and become her own person. She stops accepting whatever he was throwing at her and got the backbone she needed. She starting looking for more than what he was offering her and I really liked that. Quinn, on the other hand, stays the same person for a long time in this book and I couldn't like him. He was whoring around and then he goes and says that he loves her for a long time? Yeah, right. The three stars I am giving to the book are for Anna.

The first time I read this novel, I didn't much like the dynamic between the two protagonists. I felt that Quinn was whiny, selfish and juvenile. Anna, seemed more mature but was too accomodating and forgiving. She seemed humiliated at every turn and he seemed to whine about everything. After a few years, I have re-read this novel and was surprised to find I liked it. Some of those elements I disliked are still very much present but perhaps time has allowed me to understand the dynamic. Quinn is immature and selfish, that is the flaw in his character her fights to overcome. Anna in many ways enabled his selfishness and this was presented as her selflessness. The largest conflict between Quinn and Anna arises from a moral dilemma. Quinn is offered a great opportunity but this opportunity is tarnished when Anna's safety is jeopardized. The right thing to do was to give up the opportunity and everyone, including Quinn and Anna, knew this. However, just as Quinn is going to do so Anna tells him not to give the opportunity up on her account. Quinn makes the wrong choice and is rightly blamed for his idiocy. What redeems the novel is that both protagonists at this point have to come to grips with their flaws. Anna enables Quinn's selfishness with her low self esteem. When he (encouraged by her) makes the wrong choice, it is because she has permitted it without protest and is content to wallow in self pity. When Quinn begins to act on his moral compass and not her guidance his character grows. Anna also improves when she stops giving in to her low self esteem and starts voicing her desire to come first. Once we get to this point, Quinn’s innate finer qualities are redirected from his selfish and childish nature toward a more self aware and mature expression. He is everything you could ask for, gentle, sweet, loving, honest, jealous, protective, vulnerable and very flawed and willing to give her the world. Anna, is not as tough and independent or clear headed as she first appears, she has to learn to trust and lean on Quinn but she too is kind, generous and boy is she resilient. Their friends and family are many and varied characters. They are funny, annoying, loving and most importantly a great support system for these two love birds.

I've tried getting into this book but I could not read it in it's entirely. The book was so slow and the story did not seem believable to me. I gave up and it killed me but the book did not hold much interest for me.
