Beautiful illustrations, depth of content. A stunning reference guide that is perfect for all gardeners and plant enthusiasts.
I would like to be able to see this book, but can't download it.
Glorious to look at and full of rich and interesting facts, this will be a book to dip into over and over.
I always wondered about where the many different plants in my grandmothers’ gardens came from,
especially when and where they originated. This book answered great many of my questions about
some of the common plants. This book should not be viewed as just a reference book but a book
to be enjoyed in off hours when one was to get away from the world and enjoy learning about
flora that you are not acquainted with. Perhaps you may want to grow some yourself.
For anyone who loves gardening, this book is excellent reading. Unlike other gardening books you may have come across, this is not a how-to or companion planting reference. Put simply, if you've ever wondered about the plants that you've grown, their history, and where they've come from, this book will give you a plethora of interesting and unusual information. This will give you a new perspective on the plants that you grow. .
Kingsbury takes a look at where our garden plants come from, the plant hunters, botanists, breeders and gardeners who made our landscape what it is today. Listed alphabetically, the author presents information about over 130 of the most commonly grown plants, where they came from, how and where to plant them and how to care for them. Gorgeous illustrations enliven the text
