Between the cover and the title I thought I needed to read this book. However, Tucker's stance on the feline "invasive species", discussion of population control options, and comparisons to other pets left me confused by the author's goal with this title. Ok, I'm biased toward my feline overlords (Shadow and Buddy know where I sleep) and I volunteer fostering kittens and hope to do more TNR soon. However the blurbs put a different spin on the book than how I read it. Is it a worthwhile read? Yes! However beware it's not all a happy, cute, fluffy kitten inside.

A humorous book on how cats tamed us to be one of the cutest and powerful creatures we know. It makes sense as they were once non-domesticated and wild, and now we let them sleep on our bed. Worth a read or two!

Unfortunately I am choosing not to review this book at this time, as the published date has long passed and there are too many other galleys I have! But thank you for the opportunity!

I am a cat lady, and proud of it. Cat videos make me laugh. Books about cats make me smile. This book wasn’t what I was expecting, but it did make me think about origin of cats and their arrival to our shores. I was hoping for more humor and what I got is a dry, fact filled recitation.

In my opinion this book is not written for cat lovers and don’t recommend it for them. However if you’re interested in information of the history of the domestication of cats, by all means read it.

While the book has a few light parts with a touch of humor, overall it was a bit heavier of a read with more history than I was expecting.

I enjoy cats, and I read this book at a time that I was seriously considering getting a cat. So woe and behold when I realised this book was so incredibly unbiased that my feelings about cats started being challenged!
This book is full of great research about house cats, and for such a scientific endeavour it actually reads quite easily. I loved it.
Also, I now have a cat.
But really, read the list I made (link below) to see how much I loved it.
