I could not get through this book. It wasn't enjoyable and I couldn't bring myself to read the whole thing.

I really got to this only sometime after I began reading on an airplane. It was a trial to get through in the beginning, but It resolved itself towards the end. I really appreciated the opportunity to read a book that sought to cover a diverse experience of war. 20th Century History often evokes the same master narrative over and over again, but I appreciated Michael Kazin's attempt to color in some overlooked details of the aftermath of the first world war and how such effects resulted anti-war efforts. Worth reading, but maybe only digestible by those who enjoy history.
