Very uniquely written fantasy for younger reader, mostly in the middle grade age range.
Strong characters in a setting and group that in unlike any that I have read. Like a dystopian in a fantasy setting. Will recommend to middle - high grade grade readers.
I love Mercedes Lackey's books, and this one is good but is not my favorite. I probably should have read the first one in the series first!
This is a very weird series that I wanted to love so badly. I just could not get past the writing style. It's unique, I'll credit the author on that. It just didn't work for me at all. I will not be posting an official review anywhere online because I did not finish this title. I appreciate the publisher's generosity, however.
Not any better than the first book in the series--it's chasing a lot of trends in YA when really Lackey does best with talking horses and birds.
The sequel to "Hunter" did not disappoint! Given the high point that the first volume ended on, I admit I had trepidations about where the second installment would lead. . . but I also couldn't wait to read it. And I couldn't stop reading it once I started!
I appreciate the fact that no only the situations, but the characters grew, evolved, and changed. And the politics! You need a score card to keep up with all the power plays and hidden agendas - and I love it!
