(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

At Midnight's local pawnshop, weapons are flying off the shelves-only to be used in sudden and dramatic suicides right at the main crossroads in town.
Who better to figure out why blood is being spilled than the vampire Lemuel, who, while translating mysterious texts, discovers what makes Midnight the town it is. There's a reason why witches and werewolves, killers and psychics, have been drawn to this place.
And now they must come together to stop the bloodshed in the heart of Midnight. For if all hell breaks loose-which just might happen-it will put the secretive town on the map, where no one wants it to be...

Is that it now? Are we done with this series?

What is it about this series that made me want to read all three books, back to back? There certainly wasn't much to speak of plot-wise, let alone in characters. Maybe it was the anticipation of something FINALLY happening? There was a lot of something ALMOST happening, which really drives me nuts.

As for the characters, well, they were all just a little cliched and, in one example, rather embarrassing. The pale vampire, the with the talking cat (seriously!!), the two gay men who run a nail and beauty place...doesn't that tell you everything you need to know about the characterisations here?

But the biggest problem, for me, was that at no time did the author give any of the characters space to grow within the story. They remained as one-dimensional at the end as they started. Everyone seemed to be doing something on every page, squashing all the characters together and really not allowing them, or the story, to breath.

I don't imagine I will read any more of her books again...
