I love Food52 and I wish I liked this book better but it was just eh for me. Partly because it seemed like a LOT of work do much of the prep for a week's worth of meals at once. But also the book didn't' really lend itself to the kindle format.
Good book for recipes per every season. They taste great, highly recommended.
I wanted to read this cookbook because I have recently gotten into meal planning, and am constantly looking for easy ways to fix meals that will last through the week since I am always on the run. One of the great features of this cookbook is it also helps you by advising how to shop for groceries that will work with the recipes and better organize your plan for the week ahead. It's perfect for someone like me because I don't have to stress about the ingredients or worry about having to go to the grocery store more than once a week.
Additionally, I love how the recipes are sorted by season. I am a farmer's market junkie and love to cook with whats in season. I find it difficult sometimes to prepare for the upcoming week due to the fact that our household is only me and my husband. I often find that I am buying things and throwing out food because it doesn't get used prior to it expiring. The author provides tips for reheating, freezing and storing the recipes you make which is awesome.
The introduction says it might take the reader a minute to get used to this strategy of meal planning. Not me! This is how I have been doing it for just over a year, and it works so well for us, I am thrilled to see a beautiful cookbook explaining the idea to a wide audience. I find that I waste less food, spend less time cooking (on an average day) and less time wondering what to cook, which is so very important on busy weekdays. The only drawback is the volume of food prepared here; it's clearly intended for someone cooking for a family, or for the freezer, and not our two person meals. Still, a good resource from authors who know a thing or two about cooking.
