This is a complicated story there is a whole world that no one knows of underneath the gulf of Mexico . Where one day a young Abbie was rescued from drowning by a boy who was well more then just a boy . And when she has the chance she saves him back when she finds him on the examination table in her fathers lab . Will she and the man who saved her be able to get away and save each other

This book was has me in a bit of a turmoil . I truly loved the story idea but I also wished that the author could of added a bit more to Hauke's back story and how he learnt English and that . That would of pumped up his character just a little . I just felt like I couldn't connect with him or Abbie . Some times the secondary characters were more interesting . Over all I really did enjoy the book . The plot was engaging and the characters got their HEA. I am going to continue with the series . Each character has his own book so I can't wait to see where the author takes them . So if you want a paranormal romance with a HEA in each book check them out .

A great spin on "merpeople" that live under the ocean! No tails on these guys, though. Big alpha male types who value their women above all others.
I was completely enthralled by this story. Plenty of suspense and emotion. Hauke and Abbie's characters leap off the page with their struggle to survive. Must not miss this series!

What a pleasant surprise! This is my first book from this author, Ditter Kellen, but I can promise it won’t be my last! I was swept into the story from page one. I’ve read a lot of paranormal romance and have not found a better “world” than the one she created for this story.

Abby is a wonderful character. She’s smart, well educated and compassionate. Her compassion was the first emotion she experienced when seeing the “dead” creature on her father’s exam table. After discovering that the “creature” was not dead, she was determined to save him from an experimental lab in Area 51.

Hauke. Hauke. Hauke. He has lungs, he has gills, fangs and poisonous barbs on his wrists and ankles. Part human, part fish and part vampire. Wow. A very unique hybrid. He’s bigger than a human and exquisitely…male. Sculpted like a god. If that isn’t enough to turn your head, he’s kind, gentle and very loving. And…HOT!

Their journey to escape from government agents who want Hauke, because he isn’t human, and Abby because she knows too much, is a great adventure. They run and hide with the help of Abby’s Uncle Tony, an ex-CIA agent with the means and contacts to help them escape. Tony is a great character in his own right.

If you like paranormal romance…at all…I think you will fall in love with this story. Pick up a copy and discover the beautiful world of Hauke’s home in “the down below”, and…

Enjoy!

Hauke is from Aukrabah. He is essentially a Merman on steroids! He has fangs and a venom which he can use when he needs to defend himself. After a mission with others, on the surface, goes wrong, he ends up captured and taken to a lab.

Abbie is a doctor and former researcher at the lab. When her dad starts acting strangely she follows him to the lab and finds Hauke, who is about to get shipped off to Area 51. She can't abide the thought of allowing someone, even someone who is clearly not human, be treated that way and helps Hauke escape. What follows is the story of their escape, love story and eventual journey to the "safety" of Aukrabah. This runs concurrently with the story that the venom Hauke and his kind secretes has been transmitted to the humans and there is now a deadly epidemic sweepings the USA.

There are twists and turns and a back story that our hero/ine are not the strangers they first assume each other to be. Family dysfunction and secrets are rife and it was novel that not everything ends with there being one big happy family. Dissension is still apparent and you also get a glimpse at the other possible stories to evolve in this world incl Hauke's sister Naura and Abbie's less than stable ex-CIA agent uncle, Tony. Sci-fi, PNR and romance all wind together cleverly in this story.

I love mermaids, aliens and really anything to do with the military's secret Area 51 conspiracies, so it wasn't hard to get into this. Abbigail and Hauke have met once before the present time, during an incident in the ocean when she was a little girl who'd just buried her mother who lost to cancer. Fast-forward to her adult self, and we see that she's now a doctor and only has her scientist of a father to call family. This starts off with her suspicions of Daddy Dearest doing something curious with the higher ups, so naturally she goes to figure out what it is. What she finds is the mermaid version of the Hulk and the rest is history.

This rating hits a little below the four stars, mainly because this book had a lot of potential where my personal opinions are concerned, like being fully convinced of their insta-love, or enjoying the whole dialogue. The writing was pretty good at times, but when it came to talking, it lagged a bit for me. I did love the world build up of Hauke and his people, but there were a few instances in the story that made me question their line of thinking and logic. Small stuff, but they still distracted me from the story. Aside from what this story has, it was still pretty entertaining if you're all about the alien/merhunkman/soul mates spiel with the suspense and teary scenes. The only reason why this book is getting a four stars despite my worries is because it made me cry and laugh, and if a book can do that to you, I'd say it's pretty damn good.
