We need more youth/young adult fiction like this. The book had a lot of adventure as the communists took over the country and Nicole's parents are kidnapped. Nicole and her brother begin the journey of trying to locate their parents and to prove that they are innocent of the wrongdoing that the communists are accusing them of.

This was a very fast paced book. I liked the strong Christian faith storyline throughout the book. I loved reading about the Czech Republic and the descriptions of Old Town, what the building looked like, and even reading about tomatoes, bread, cheese, and cucumbers because this reminded me of my recent trip to Poland.

I did not know for sure how the storyline from 1500 fit into the current day storyline. There was probably a good reason for that to be interwoven into the chapters but the meaning was lost to me. The book started out showing a lot of promise but after awhile, the book lagged somewhat.

good concept, but it didn't feel very well written. the pacing was a bit slow for my preference, but it was still a decent read.
