When I received the e-ARC of this, I did a little happy dance and dove right in. I loved Zander in the last couple books and couldn't wait to get to his story. Unfortunately I'm stuck a few chapters in. He keeps calling the heroine Little Wolf, and it's driving me crazy. As nicknames go, there are definitely worse ones, yet it pulls me out of the story every time. I'm going to take a break from it and try again later.

Throughout the Shifters Unbound series, we've met a few Guardians. Guardian's Mate changed the rules. Rae Lyall is the first female Guardian ever chosen. The Shifters in her Shiftertown believe it to be in error and refuse to let a woman be Guardian. Sean Morrissey, Guardian of the Austin Shiftertown believes that she was supposed to be chosen and sends a crazy, polar bear Shifter, healer named Zander to teach her how to use her newfound gift.

I loved Zander the moment he walked onto the page earlier in the Shifters Unbound series and was itching to learn more about him. Sure he's a little on the crazy side, but it's exactly what Rae needed and they steamed up the pages. *fans self* Guardian's Mate may not be my favorite book in the series, but it was a damn good read.
