Evangeline Tregre is trying to leave her former life behind. She wants nothing to do with the Leopard’s of Louisiana. Evangeline is following her passion to San Antonio where she opened a bakery. She is satisfied to start her days early and end them late baking for her customers. However, she never counted on one of her customers disrupting her new quiet life.

Alonzo Massi is content to lead a life alone with his dangerous Amur Leopard. He is coming up in the San Antonio mob scene. The last thing Alonzo needs with the danger stalking closer is a woman. One look at Evangeline and Alonzo’s life is changed forever. He cannot run from the feelings she inspires. Can he romance her and protect her from his life?

Christine Feehan takes her readers on a fiery wild ride in Leopard’s Fury. I could not get enough of this story. I was addicted from page one! Evangeline and Alonzo set the pages ablaze with their intense forbidden attraction. Feehan’s characters are rich with provocative and poignant backstories. I’m not sure there are two characters more worthy of a happy ending than Evangeline and Alonzo. I became deeply attached to them both and could not wait for them to give in to the passion between them.

I cannot believe that Leopard’s Fury is the ninth book in Feehan’s Leopard’s series. It is not necessary to have read the previous novels to follow this one but it does make it much sweeter. I love when characters from past novels show up in new ones and this one is full of juicy stories from beloved Leopard series characters.

Leopard’s Fury is full of gritty suspense and romance. This one will keep you on your toes.

Christine Feehan’s Leopard series is about very alpha leopard shifter men who find their mates, and then through passion and danger convince those women that they can’t live without hem. Leopard’s Fury follows a similar theme. Alonzo grew up in a terrifyingly brutal crime family where women were used as breeders and, obviously, weren’t respected. To escape that life he had to do some very horrible things that shaped who he was as a man. In America, he becomes his own version of a crime boss (somewhat of a good guy) and lives in constant danger. He meets Evangeline and she instantly makes all of his inner turmoil go away. She calms his inner beast. Evangeline has her own brutal backstory, and has escaped her previous life to live pride free running her own bakery. When she meets Alonzo she is intrigued by his silent icy stare and secretly pines for him.

Christine Feehan is a very successful writer and this series has a huge following, but I’ll admit, it just wasn’t for me. Alonzo came into Evangeline’s bakery for a year and sat and stared at her four times a week. In my world, that would be called stalking. Which, I guess is kind of the point because they are both leopards, and well, cats stalk. But when reading about it, it was just kind of creepy. Other than the obvious, he was ripped, handsome, intense, and made her shiver with awareness, I couldn’t understand why she was attracted. I understood his attraction to her though. She was pretty, sweet, gentle, nice and funny. All things that were unique to him and made her an attractive mate.

The rest of the plot was pretty good, although for me, there was a bit too much sex. Very, umm, animalistic sex. Which, I guess is kind of the point, because they are, umm, animals. Kind of wild stuff though, so beware of the nature of the beast.

The latest addition to the Leopard People series is classic Christine Feehan: alpha males, strong women, violence, passion, family, drama and a happily ever after.

Evangeline's childhood was terrible. She was neglected, tortured, terrified, but she survived. She's put herself back together, she's created a life she loves, doing something she loves. And then a man walks through her door and turns her life upside down. She's may be young and innocent but she's also fierce, determined, and protective.

Alonzo can't stay away from Evangeline. His leopard is difficult - scary difficult - but around sweet, innocent Evangeline he calms. I felt for Alonzo. His childhood was horrific, he's seen and done things that would break the strongest of people, but he survived. He's still got his demons, lives a dangerous life, and doesn't think he deserves a woman much less one like Evangeline and it's a battle to get him to give in.

I liked Alonzo and Evangeline. He goes all alpha male but she's not afraid to stand up to him, he cares and protects her like no one in her life ever had before. I also liked that Evangeline has always known about her leopard, that it was been her companion, her protector, even if they haven't always been in agreement. I loved Alonzo's relationship with his brother and cousins and how they brought Evangeline into the fold, teasing and bantering with her.

As always, when I reach the end of one of Christine Feehan's novels I'm eager for another.
