Island of Glass is based primarily in Ireland on the Island of Clare. The guardians travel to Bran’s home to make their home base while searching for the final and third star. This location is tied to Doyle. It is the place of his youth. It is also the place where his young brother died and his life was never the same. The location is mystical. The cliffs, the crashing sea, the forest and gardens, and the house itself with towers, spiral staircases, and a library are all described with so much detail that as a reader I could picture it perfectly.
I have read the first two books in this series and Island of Glass continued this amazing story right where the others left off. The story of Bran, Doyle, Riley, Sasha, Sawyer and Annika is continued perfectly. I enjoyed their relationships with each other, both romantically and as friends. I enjoyed how these 6 came together as strangers and formed friendships that were pushed to the limits and formed romantic relationships that seemed impossible at the beginning. The respect, love, and sense of family was shared throughout the entire story. Even when at odds over what the next step should be they never let anything get between them. Each of the characters is unique yet together they work perfectly. Their distinctive personalities lead towards building their friendships and finding the final star.
This series is wonderful. The Guardians Trilogy does have to be read in order but they are fun reads. I recommend picking up all three of the books.

Paranormal Fantasy Romance published by Berkley 6 Dec 16
I love these fantasy trilogies from Nora Roberts. I know some readers don’t care for them because they’re formulaic, but that doesn’t matter to me. As long as the characters draw me in from the beginning and I get a great story, I’m happy. Nora Roberts is the best at that, and each and every book is more than enjoyable. I especially like this one because I had been waiting for Doyle’s and Riley’s story. They’re my favorite of the three couples, so you can imagine I was totally engrossed until the very end.
The Guardians are now in Ireland, on Bran’s land where he built his magnificent home and also where Doyle’s ancestors originated hundreds of years ago. It’s a place this immortal man never wanted to return to, but their search for the Star of Ice has led him back. He and Riley have been fighting side by side, along with their guardian friends, and successfully furthering their hunt. The chemistry between him and the werewolf archaeologist slowly heats to the point their anticipated combustion leaps off the page.
Of course, this is all in between them fighting off Nerezza, the darkest of goddesses, whom they’ve beaten back twice before. Those scenes are intense and full of action with the Guardians side by side trying to locate not only the star but the Island of Glass. I like the puzzles they’ve had to decipher in each book and this one is no exception. The friendships these six have forged is a very nice addition to the storyline. Those who fight together stay together.
The magic and time travel and wolf shifting and immortal-ness is intertwined to keep the paranormal/fantasy aspect front and center. It all makes me anticipate the next Nora Roberts trilogy.
