Pitching My Heart had me right from the beginning. Kelly Morgan and Samantha Long wrote a wonderful story that covered everything from fun to serious and love to hate. They wrote interesting characters that had you wishing that they were a part of your life as well.

Katryn and Weston are the main characters in this story but, the underlying people that were written played such an integral part in this story. The story would have been fascinating with just Kat and West but, it wouldn’t have been the same without Micha, Lily, Rex, Joe, Genna and, most especially, Lucca. Together, this crew was a force of nature and no one stood a chance against any of them, especially if they hurt Kat, West or loveable Lucca.

The back-story of Kat and West is hysterical. Something that Kat wants to forget ever happened and West thought was just adorable. See, she was the one that got away and had no idea that he felt like that. She was just too embarrassed to ever face him again. She is going to have to take the leap because this interview could either make or break her. With the support of her friends (definitely not her family), she faces her past head-on and, after a few disastrous incidents, she finds herself letting down her walls and giving West the chance he’s been begging for. Then, the unbelievable happens and she has to decide if she’s ready for love and a family.

West doesn’t do interviews after his disastrous start in baseball. He was too full of himself, too wrapped up in a woman who was nothing but bad news for him. He embarrassed himself and his family. When his agent approaches him about Kat interviewing him, he says yes. It’s time to face the woman that has intrigued him for years. But, before that can happen, as he is realizing that it was Kat that was missing from his life, his past come backs and bites him. Now, he has to explain Lucca to Kat and hope that she can accept him and his son.

Only a few things kept me from giving Pitching My Heart a 5 Star review. First was Coco … she made no sense to me. She tried to seduce West even though she was married to another man, she had no love for her son, she gave West her hotel room number when her husband was there – didn’t she think that West confronting her in front of him would have blown up in her face? She was just a stupid, ignorant bitch. The other was that they never really explained why Kat was so closed off to love and opening her heart. It just was.

But, what has me really giving this a 4.5 Star review were the people, the back-stories of them. Lily still has me a little confused and I am hoping we will find out her whole story in the future. Micah and Rex were wonderful together and I hope that we find out if Micah finally stands up to his father and makes him accept his love for Rex. Joe and Genna were indescribable … especially Genna – I loved her right from the beginning. And then there is Lucca. What a beautiful, loving little boy he is. West fell in love with him the minute he met his son and Mommy Kat was exactly what he needed to be shown what unconditional love was. Until the bitch decided that she had to break up the happy family.

As I have said in the past, I love baseball and West happens to be a pitcher. Now, if you are not a lover of baseball, you won’t have to give up reading this book. It’s not filled with baseball jargon or games. It’s alluded to but not the main focus of the story. The focus is totally on Kat and West and the life they are trying to build together. It’s focused on love and support from friends and family. It’s focused on the love a man has for his son and trying to bring the woman he loves into their lives.

Found this book a bit it hard to get into the story, which was ok and had alright characters but will try again in the future with these authors. Thanks for letting me try your book.
