Funny, as well as smart loveable characters that make you fell back in love with them with each turn of the page as well as with each book.
I have slowly made my way through all the books in this series and decided to review as a whole. These are amazing. Funny, smart with characters to love. They have made a believer out of me that PNR can be for me!!!
Well, Charley Davidson is back and boy has her life gotten complicated! Besides being the grim reaper, a god, a wife and a mother, she's still a very talented PI who has a very high solve rate due to her special abilities. I mean, when you can talk to ghosts, you kind of have an inside track on the goings on of the spirit world. That being said, the other supernatural stuff she is dealing with has massive life and death consequences, and Charley will need to lean on her support system now more than ever because some big things are going down, and she is going to need to be ready for anything. Cookie and Ubie, Osh and Garrett are as dependable as ever, but Reyes has been distant ever since they came back from New York. It turns out both Charley and Reyes are keeping some pretty big secrets, and the question is whether they will be able to come together in time to prevent world shattering disaster from happening.
As usual, Charley's humor and snarkiness make this book a very enjoyable and quick read. The characters never grow stale, and the pacing is getting quicker and quicker as questions are answered and new problems are revealed. I love this series so much and can't wait to read the next installment!
Highly recommend - 5 very enthusiastic stars.
Charley's back and she has a family now as well. We're far enough into the series that the serious stuff is becoming a bigger part of the picture. With new enemies to defeat, protecting the family has become the main priority. We still get Cookie banter, because quite honestly at this point in the series, we need some laughs
Charley's back! After the seriousness of the last few books, and her getting amnesia as a way to cope - Charley is back to her snarky, fun but caring kick-butt self. There was a lot of humor in this installment which I love. I again listed to the audio, which Lorelei King did an amazing job with. She really brings these characters to life. I love them all so much. There isn't really anyone I dislike. I love Cookie and Osh and Angel and Uncle Bob and everyone else playing a part in these books. I love that we get to learn more about Reyes in this book as well. We are ramping up for the end of the series and things are moving faster. There is still time for Charley to work on her private investigation cases as well. I can't wait to see where all of these is going.
This book has everything you could want.. a brutal murder, an innocent boyfriend?, a killer orphanage, a super sexy son of Satan, and the Grim Reaper. Oh yeah and we are on the cusp of a supernatural war.. fun times! This series has just been amazing so far, and I am glad that we still have a few more books to go. The story telling is just amazing.. When you just think you have it all figured out BAM total different direction. What amazes me the most is how much these characters love and take care of each other. I love them all. Thank you Ms. Jones for the wild ride! I will always pick up a book written by you!
I started this series and read the first 8 books back to back. When I went back to read the next 4 I was immediately able to jump back in to the story. I love this author and these characters. The world building and storyline are so good and well developed!
What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.
Another winning entry to an Amazing series. I love the interactions between the characters. Charlie is my favorite, her personality is so refreshing and the storyline is superb. I would highly recommend this series.
I loved this one! So many different things going on. I love how Charley does her PI job and solves so many different issues!
The Curse of the Tenth Grave continues the story of our favorite heroine Charley Davidson. These books just keep getting better and better. Highly enjoyable!
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for the opportunity to read this book.
The Curse of Tenth Grave
The Characters:
Charley Davidson-Farrow
Reyes Farrow
The Story:
I really don’t think there will be a time where I won’t be in love with a Charely Davidson tale. Charley is back and has plans. Big plans. She also has huge obstacles but since which has she ever let them get in the way. I’m enjoying watching her come into her powers and grow. Growth comes at a price and though there are some tears and emotional pitfalls there is also a lot of love and laughter. Can’t wait for the next installment.
The Random Thoughts:
4 Stars
This review is going to be for the rest of the series overall. I read the last of the books in quick succession and enjoyed them all equally. I'm glad that I enjoyed it as much as I did. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Darynda Jones in the future.
We have another Charley mystery to solve and this one is very close to home!
We got a good twist that I didn't really see coming that gets us even deeper into the whole 'the world is headed for a super battle' theme.
I continue to be pleased that Rayes has been toned down. We don't have to deal with sultry glares from under eyelashes and study his rockin' bod every few pages. Thank goodness.
Charley never wavers sassy and sarcastic just like I like her.
Once again, not enough Swoops.
Slipping down to the last three books this one ends on a devastating cliff hanger but we all know that the series has been wrapped up by now so no worries! On to the next!

I love the whole series. I've read and listened to the series multiple times. Charley is appreciatively grumpy and snarky. I, too, have an appreciation for coffee and enchiladas. And sarcasm. (General Review for series books 1-12)
Charley is fun and quirky and a bit crazy. Still loving this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
I requested all the books in the series when they were available, but decided not to continue past book 3. I will not be reviewing this book.
The Curse of Tenth Grave is the tenth book in the Charley Davidson series. This can be read as a standalone, though personally I think you should read the books in order written so you fully understand the storyline. There is violence and sex. I really enjoy this series. It is the perfect mix of paranormal and romance. Plus, you gotta love a gal who loves coffee as much as I do!
Love this series and the characters. I recommend it all over the place. Thank you for the chance to read these books again and again.
Highly entertaining and a good go to comfort read. These are the books I like to come home to after a long day at work. Easy to slip into and do not require a lot from the reader. Charley Davidson is fun and quirky and gives me what I need in an easy read!
