Thanks to netgalley.com, Boldstroke Books and author Kara A. McLeod for the advance ARC for my honest review.
'Actual Stop', was my first read from author Kara A. McLeod, found it interesting yet very boring, started it several times, only to pick it back up and retry too read it. The real problem with this book for me is that it goes no where fast, overloaded with boredom and the overall story line is just plain dumb. Plus just with the author words you got a better story buried in this one.
I liked both Special Secret Service agents Ryan O'Connor and Meaghan Bates, they're assigned to the Protective Intelligence Squad, share an office, they have chemistry, and easily the author could have built the story around them.
Found the whole thing with Ryan pining about Allison to be dumb, with the shooting on another assignment Ryan was on and just makes it seem like this is short story segments pieced together and it doesn't work.
A better story would have been the following. When Ryan's ex-girlfriend Special Agent Allison Reynolds comes back to New York too work with her. To protect Ryan, they originally fake that she's in a relationship with Meaghan, ultimately the two end up falling in love, Allison's actually pregnant, then keep some of the original storyline and can't forget Meaghan dumps her fiancée.
While I didn't like this, can see why other readers would like this and will give the author Kara A. McLeod another try.

I expected to read more about details of what Ryan O'Connor's job entails and its various aspects since it is the first book and I didn't mind it at all. Ryan's boss does seem a little fishy, I wonder what that's all about and hopefully, it will be answered in the next book.
I enjoyed the angst involved in the story between Ryan and Allison and thought that had believable chemistry. I thought that it was well written how Ryan was distrustful of Allison, as she had good reason to.
Looking forward to reading the next in its series.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I liked this book; I devoured it unable to put it down. I do wish I had more about Allison and Ryan's relationship before they broke up. The romance and chemistry between them as well as the plot line. Ryan was amazing, and I couldn't get enough of her. Just a warning if you read this you will immediately start the second!
