In Safe Hands is the fourth book in the Search & rescue team series by Katie Ruggle. I love this series so much! Even though I think most of the books in this series can be read on their own, I think it is best to read this series in order. Particularly for books three and four (this one) That's because In safe Hands starts out immediately after the crazy events of book three, and even though I had read the last book some time had passed and I found myself momentarily confused as I gained my bearings. Once you get past that first event, the book works well on his own. IN Safe Hands was creepy, but still managed to have a great romance.
There is a killer on the loose, and even though the readers know who it is, it still creeped me out because the killer always seemed to be a few steps ahead of our main character, Daisy. Daisy's Agoraphobia added to the intensity of the story for me. I loved how protective Chris is of Daisy. He is always there for her, steady and true. I loved the two of them.
As with all of the books in this series, they are not only action packed but also packed full of emotions. Katie Ruggle does a fantastic job making you feel everything the characters are feeling. If you are a fan of romantic suspense novels, this series is up there are some of my favorites. I think it is a must read. I love these books!

After the bomb was dropped at the end of Gone Too Deep, I'm glad I had the final book in the series, In Safe Hands, ready and waiting. Due to how Gone Too Deep ended, In Safe Hands started off stressful and laden with suspense. No one in the small Colorado town of Simpson has any idea that there is a threat to the town cleverly disguised as someone to trust. The author did a wonderful job building up conflict in the background of the entire series. Each book plays off of the others so I suggest you read this book from the very beginning.
Katie Ruggle's Search and Rescue series is phenomenal. The world building and character development in each book is extraordinary. The relationship between Daisy and Chris is sweet and subtle. After suffering a horrific event eight years earlier, Daisy hasn't left her house, ever. She is terrified of anything outside the walls of her home. She's not alone though. Chris is a deputy in the Sherriff's department and spends a lot of time with Daisy. He trains her to protect herself and gives her the companionship she craves. The slow burn chemistry between Diasy and Chris is unmistakable and their relationship is fleshed out nicely - slowly and so realistic. The romance is one of several key themes but it doesn't overshadow the seriousness of the events that unfold. Katie Ruggle does a superb job with these characters not only with their romance but with the struggles each faces, Daisy's phobia and issues that crop up in Chris's world, plus the overarching storyline, In Safe Hands.
Katie Ruggle's writing style is wonderful; her worlds just flow across the pages smoothly, easily, and powerfully. I was engaged immediately and the content kept me focused. There are several themes weaved throughout the story, with one main one that stretches throughout the entire series, keeping the book from becoming stale, but not so much that the reader feels confused or overwhelmed. The characters were well developed and Daisy and Chris are really likeable and realistically written.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves romantic suspense!

The last book in the series and with the final conclusion of the story we are set with a different women and man. Daisy is an agoraphobic, she has not left her home for the past eight years after watching her mother being killed. Her best friend Chris is also a deputy and looks in on her every day. They also train together, for she has a mad home gym and Chris using his training has taught her self-defense, weight training, and other work out techniques. Now this story is told really at times through the eyes of Daisy and really at times plays like an old fashion thriller for she is lock through her own self in her home. The author brings you on every emotion during this book, whether it was something Daisy was going through and how someone who had been living like that for years would be experiencing. Or the fight scene which I found to be more real to life than most stories that describe what fighting is like with someone. The other characters from the other books are in this book as well, and you are given the conclusion to the story that began in book one. What I liked about this series is that each women in the books were different and yet strong, and the men that they ended up with could see that and let them be and try to change who they were. Overall this was a very good book and a very good series. Sorry it took me so long to read this last book.

In Safe Hands took me forever. I LOVED the rest of the series, including the one I had to buy since I missed it on NetGalley, but this one was so hard. I didn't enjoy the harder turn towards thriller and I found it much harder to read. The relationship was still good, and I like revisiting people, but much of it was just too much. For example, she can't leave her house, but she was instantly friends with all these strangers to the point of working out with them immediately? It just didn't fly. I'm still going to look for Katie Ruggle books, but this one was not a winner.
