Going through my netgalley account and just found the section of books titled Archived, not downloaded. I apparently requested and was approved for this book but I never DLd it and so did not read it. I appreciate the approval and while still interested in the title I am not sure when I will get to read it. If/when I do I will be sure to post a review on Instagram, goodreads, storygraph, and Amazon.
This book was a nice read but the Male lead Josh was not likeable at all. He feels justified in SA women just because he survived something terrible? I don't think so.
I get where the author was going with his character, but he seems not as fleshed out as the other characters in the book. This made the ending not as sweet cute as the author intended, but rushed and reckless. We still barely know or understand Josh and I just wished the author spent more time fleshing out his character so we would feel for him more and understand why he and Heather would be happy together.
All the other characters in the book made up for Josh and made the book enjoyable and I cant wait to read her boss's story.
This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.
Heather is a smart business driven woman who wants to be the top of the wedding planning elite. What she doesn't plan on is John throwing her for a loop.
I found this book to be sweet and heart felt and really enjoyable.
Lauren Layne is a go-to author for me and once again she did not disappoint. Excellent characters, a great story with humor and a bit of angst - what's not to love!
I couldn’t get enough of this book! I devoured this in one siting! It was sweet, romantic, funny and entertaining. Highly recommend!!
Heather Fowler and Josh Tanner are fun, flirty, sexy, and just too cute for their own good - especially together!
Josh is so laid-back and fun-loving one may get confused on whether they're supposed to like him or not. Is he too laid-back? Too care-free? Not caring enough? Rude for playing his music loud at all times of the night?
Well, if you ask Heather, she'd say "all of the above." At first, that is. Before long, things get really interesting and hot, and I couldn't put it down, nor did I want it to end. I laughed - silently and out loud. I cried - happy tears, sad tears. Their relationship was smooth and natural. I loved the way Heather dealt with Josh, and vice-versa, and that was the best first kiss I've read about in a while. So unexpected, but it hadn't seem forced. They were relaxed and playful with each other, but each stayed true to who they were. No games, no falsities. Josh was conflicted in a way. He tried to live his life to the fullest after having a death scare, but he realizes that he's not really living. Heather had her whole life planned out, but her rigidity was holding her back as well. They found themselves as they discovered each other.
It was good getting reacquainted with the Belles, and I'm so excited about the next novel, which I'm hoping is about Alexis and Logan.
It was a entertaining, scintillating ride with a couple of bumps and a bruise or two, but well worth the journey!
This is my favorite LL book hands down. Love love love love love everything about it!! I didn't think she could top off my previous favorite: The Trouble with Love. Oh man she did!! I can't freaking wait for the next one!!
The plot will get you hooked and you won't be able to stop reading! There are some twists...twists in the plot and twists on your heart strings. The chemistry between the two main leads will leave you wanting more. You cannot deny the romance building in their relationship.
This story is one that I will be reading over and over again.
Alexis and Logan are next! Finally after all the teasing they will get a chance at their happily ever after. I know this isn't their book and I should talk about Heather and Josh, but after the events in this book I knew I had to read their story next or I would kill someone. I ship them so much and I was getting impatient.
I enjoyed Josh and Heathers story a lot more than I enjoyed To Have and to Hold. I liked this couple a lot and their story ran smoothly. I might have not liked Aprils appearance, but I didn't face any other problems until the Logan/Alexis thing came up again. From what I have read in this book, I got the impression I will enjoy the next one for more than one reasons. I won't say anything father because it will spoil some parts of the plot in this book.
One of the good things about this book is that I was able to understand Joshs motives and even if I didn't agree with him, I couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards him. He wanted to be a free man who lives his life to the fullest, but instead he had trapped himself into a cage and Heather was the one who freed him. I am not going to pretend I understand why the friction between Heather and her mother exists and why they couldn't solve it.
I loved the way Josh tried to fix what he had broken when he decided to push Heather away. It's a big spoil, but it's also my favorite part of the book and that's why I mentioned it. I am going to recommend the book just because I loved that. And I will repeat that Alexis and Logan are next!!! Yeah!
I love this series so much. Lauren Layne writes in such a way that you are instantly pulled into the story. For Better of Worse is the second book in the Wedding Belles series but can be read as a stand alone.
Heater & Josh are such a entertaining couple..... their first meeting is funny!!
Can't wait for the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
FOR BETTER OR WORSE is book two in Lauren Layne's "Wedding Belles" series. When former Wall Street hotshot Josh Tanner and wedding planner extraordinaire Heather Fowler meet, it is when they are at very different points in their lives. Josh is a cancer survivor, and part of his coping has been to give in to his impulses and not be restrained by any set plans. Heather, by contrast, is very goal-oriented and striving to get a promotion and go from assistant wedding planner to full-fledged wedding planner. When they wind up as next door neighbors in their apartment building sparks fly.
From the moment Josh and Heather meet, there is a definite physical attraction, but they initially clash over his noisy wild ways. I don't normally like stories in which the hero and heroine argue, but Lauren Layne quickly moves Josh and Heather's teasing from being snarky to being more playful and flirtatious. The sexual tension between Josh and Heather skyrockets in a very short amount of time and makes for some truly electric moments between the two. Heather's loneliness is palpable in FOR BETTER OR WORSE. Lauren Layne perfectly captures how seductive Heather finds Josh's support and friendship. Josh's amusing antics and sympathetic ear mean more to Heather than any sexual technique.
Since Josh's true feelings are often an enigma to Heather, it's great to have part of the story told from his perspective. The appearances of Josh's sister and parents give a little more insight into what makes him who he is, and why he feels as though he has to keep his past a secret from Heather. The friendships between all the "Wedding Belles" provide a little humor in a story that has some very serious moments. Lauren Layne manages to balance sexiness with tear-jerking moments and keep me reading way past my bedtime.
FOR BETTER OR WORSE is a story of family, friendship, and an unexpected but utterly fabulous romance. Josh and Heather are both characters you delight in getting to know better, and their love story is thoroughly engrossing. Josh is a guy whose charm grows on the heroine and the reader. I can't wait to read about what's in store for Alexis, and enjoy the next "Wedding Belles" story!
