This book is laugh out loud funny. it's the truth, because I did just that multiple times. It's also hot and steamy, because Oscar and Natalie tear up the pages and sheets with their combustible energy. This book is fast paced and I found myself turning pages as fast as I could just because I couldn't get enough. And a total plus was seeing Roxie, Leo, and Polly again. Plus I loved being in Bailey Falls again. Alice Clayton has done it again!
Clayton is, as always, hilarious. This was a fun story that I very much enjoyed reading. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title

You do not need to read Nuts to enjoy this book.
I really wanted to like this book, but it fell flat for me. There isn’t that much romance in my opinion, it felt like the book was 10% romance, 5% cheese, 10% Natalie and Roxie 10% marketing and 65% of Natalie talking about how awesome she is and that she’s a man eater.
I skimmed so many pages because they didn’t really add anything to the story it just felt like filler information. I just didn’t like the characters, I loved Natalie’s confidence but everything else made her sound like a poor little rich girl. The fact that she was about to have sex with Oscar without telling him her name after she practically stalked him to his hometown was so odd. Most of their issues stemmed from the fact that all Oscar and Natalie did was have sex, they knew nothing else about each other, they barely talked about their past and likes or dislikes.
To me this was not romance, there was no connection and let’s not even get into the Missy situation. For people who said they divorced because they fell out of love, Missy sure did need Oscar for a lot of things and he didn’t seem like he was going to put his foot down about it.

So, sadly this wasnt as good as I hoped.
It's not terrible, mind you, but its a wee to cliche for me. So while being quite fun, I also rolled my eyes quite alot along the way. Cute, but too predictable too been there done that and every other cliche
And then there is Nathalie, straight up. I don't like her. I couldn't relate to her. She really got to me and took away most of the joy of reading Cream of the Crop
However, I am absolutely sure that I will be in the minority with this opinion.
This is a hard book for me to rate. There were many parts that I loved, other parts that i just felt like there needs to be a rewrite and other parts that i just skipped.
I enjoyed how Natalie and Oscar met. It's cute because Natalie is a true city person and Oscar is from the country in a way. Natalie makes me sad because at one point she was really down on herself and didn't like who she was because of her weight and size! That really broke my heart. She was able to get out of that funk and look at who she is and now is confident, secure in herself and she goes after what she wants. I enjoyed her owning who she is and loving herself.
Oscar didn't really pull me in. Actually his character made it hard for me to continue with the book. There was just something off about him. I didn't feel that he was as true to her as she was to him. There was so much that I missed with this character. I needed more from him and I also needed him to step up.
I absolutely love Alice Clayton but this story took a while for me to get into. I can't wait to read other stories.
Simon and Caroline they are not. This was an enjoyable read but it was just ok for me.
Fun second installment in the Hudson Valley Series. Alice Clayton has a good sense of character development. She gives her characters realistic problems and issues and forces them to deal with them. Rather than deal in melodrama or angst, she creates characters who reflect real people living with everyday feelings such as love, jealousy, irritation, fear, and regret. I appreciate that the women in her books aren't forced to "make" the guy fall in love with her. Clayton's male characters fall in love right along with the women and often are the first in the relationship to realize that they want forever. This book is funny, sexy, and fun—I definitely recommend it!
This was not my favorite Alice Clayton book. I love her stories, I just didnt enjoy Natalie. She was a hard pill for me to swallow. I loved the plus size part of it... but Natalie came off as annoying at times to me.
This is a nice followup to the first Hudson Valley book. Cream of the Crop tells the story of Natalie, an executive at an advertising firm and Oscar Mendoza, an artisan cheesemaker. The two seem a mismatch at first, but I loved watching their relationship develop. They were great characters and their storyline kept me interested. I'm looking forward to more in the series!
Alice Clayton does it again! Cream of the Crop is even better than the first in the series and had so many great moments. What I love about Clayton's books is aside from the humor, there's always so much more. Character development, a solid storyline and non stop humor made the perfect balance in a book that had me flipping page after page.
Natalie was so full of life. Between her sass and attitude she was so instantly easy to love. Oscar is a sexy brooding alpha that brings it behind closed doors! The sweet romance that developed between these two was funnny and charming. I absolutely adored this book and can't wait for more to come from Hudson Valley!
I've come to the conclusion that you can't. go. wrong with an Alice Clayton book.
I swear, the feels, the laughs, the angst and the silliness you can get in a book isn't real. But with Alice, it so is!
Here comes OSCAR THE GROUCH!! I mean, a dairy farmer. Recluse. Shouldn't be ground for a romantic comedy book BUT IT SO WORKS!
I adore their interaction - well lack of really to begin with what with the butterflies and stuttering and clumsiness LOL - but as the story progressed, so did my utter love for more. More words, more emotion, more action, just more.
I cannot wait for the third in this wonderful series!!
