Anybody who thinks that they are having a bad day should read this book to gain some perspective. She isn't saintly during her recovery, either, which makes her relatable.

So how do you get run over by a truck? Well...that's the easy part. Living through the nightmare and having to rebuild, not only your body, but your life as well is the hard part.

This memoir starts out on the day of the accident. We go along with Katie as she prepares for her bike ride through Brooklyn to start her day, and through the horrific accident of being run over by a big big big truck. Katie then tells the story of her life in the hospitals that helped her rebuild her body, and her family and friends helping to bring her home, and help her heal. We become a part of the story where we feel the pain and emotion that went along with the healing process. It's a very powerful story, and one that will stick with me for a long time.

I've read other reviews about this book - people loving the inspirational aspect of the book, people not liking it because she took her friends and family for granted and became so whiny. I didn't feel this way at all when reading this book. Katie admits to the horrible feeling she felt - but HELLO she just got run over by a truck. Let the girl have an emotion or 12 that don't fit the mold of "I'm heroically getting through this." Being whiny? SHE JUST GOT RUN OVER BY A TRUCK.

I definitely recommend this memoir to any and all readers. Her writing style feels as though she was sharing her thoughts over a cup of coffee. And while some people were put off by a few swear words here and there, to me it felt like I was speaking with a good friend who can let a few f-bombs fly. Don't let that deter you from this story.
