This is a brilliant and important novel. As much as I would like to, I can't assign it as a textbook because my students wouldn't have the time, or the perseverance, to read a 1,280-page book. I have, however, strongly recommended it to a few classes, to friends, and to the _Finnegans Wake_ Reading Group of Austin, since a substantial chapter of _Jerusalem_ is written in the manner of _Finnegans Wake_. I know that at least three of those people have purchased and started reading it, though I haven't yet heard back from anyone who has actually finished it. It held my interest throughout.
