Overall, it is a cute story that had its own charm which I genuinely enjoyed, but this one won’t be a love for a lifetime book.
I thought this was an above-average read. 4 stars.
I thought the whole story was easy to read and sexy. I loved the main characters. I thought Logan was very confident and a little cocky. When a baby is essentially dropped on his doorstep without his knowledge we see how he processes all of his emotions.
Isabella shows up to take care of the said, baby. Isabella will not allow Logan to do the bare minimum in caring for his child. She is tough and a no-nonsense type of nanny. I always love a strong female lead.
I was rooting for these two from the beginning. The explosive chemistry and how they bring out the best in each other is what drew me in.
This is a great quick read that is just light and enjoyable to read. I am looking forward to more from Katie Rose. I have been waiting for book two. Hopeful that this series is finished.
Thank you, NetGalley for the privilege of receiving an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Logan Hart has known pain, hardship, and loss. When a woman shows up holding a baby and announcing he's the father he's left in a state of disbelief. One moment of pleasure will change his life forever, but is she telling the truth?
With no experience he's forced to find someone to help him navigate parenthood with a crash course in infants. When the nanny shows up he's unwilling to become attached, afterall, the baby couldn't possibly be his.
Isabella Bennett has made it her first priority to take care of children whose parents need extra help or in some cases, a nudge in affection. When she meets Logan she sets the ground rules hard, she's not the infants parent and she expect him to bond despite the current questioning of paternity.
When Bella is forced to face the one thing she wants and can't have it will threaten to destroy the life she's built. Need to know more? Dive into this must read romance where family doesn't always need to have your DNA.
Logan and Isabella were an unlikely duo. It took me a little bit to fall for the two of them but eventually I was rooting for them.
I absolutely LOVED Logan and Bella. He was sexy, sweet, and swoon and she is just awesome. The story was really great. I’m glad I gave this author a second-chance!
Sweet. Predictable but an easy, beach read. It isn't going to win any awards, but who doesn't love a man and a baby!
Sorry I was not able to read you book but it went to archive before I could get to it. Sorry once again.
Have not had a chance to read the book yet. This will get updated as soon as I read the book. If this book is part of a series it will be included when all the books have been read.
I really like Katie Rose's sports romance, sweet and sexy with a good storyline. A single dad falling in love? **swoon**
It was an enjoyable read, with endearing characters and great banter.
Unfortunately, I never got to actually read this book, I would have loved too but was too late in downloading it.
I have read others by the author and really enjoyed them. I was surprised I could get the book on Kindle Unlimited since I would expect it to sell for a high price. The characters were well developed and I liked seeing how their lives progressed during the book. I love psychological thrillers and I did enjoy this one. Can't wait till the next.
HARD TO HOLD - Katie Rose
#1 Hard to Play
LOVING THE NANNY - 3 stars
Plot - 3.5 stars - Logan is a professional soccer player whose one-night stand turns into a baby daughter left on his doorstep, so to speak, by his ex-girlfriend. Since this is totally unexpected, he's completely unprepared. In desperation he asks his sister to find him a nanny. Enter Isabella, a non-nonsense, experienced nanny who also happens to be hot and single. But when they begin a sexual relationship, then things get complicated.
Writing - 4 stars - I got involved in this story right from the beginning. Logan is cute but responsible, and Isabella is strong-willed but totally loving towards the baby. The situation is believable, and the built-in sexual tension makes sense. Sexy scenes are hot, and the conversations are relaxed and easy.
Characters - 2.5 stars - Logan is a great hero. He's a guy who made a mistake but who is trying to make up for it by taking good care of his unexpected responsibility. Unfortunately he's clueless, no shame on him. My problem is with Isabella. She sends mixed messages. She has a hands-off personality because of personal issues in her past, but the chemistry between her and her boss is out of control so she very quickly gives in to him. The sexual tension between them is entertaining and well-maintained throughout the first half of the book. But when she takes matters into her own hands and ends the relationship with no warning, I lost my respect for her. Admittedly, she has dealt with depression in the past, and I was happy that she reached out to her friend for advice and support. And this friend ultimately was the go-between to keep the romance alive, but I couldn't get beyond the fact that Isabella took the negative path without even trying to work things out. This attitude doesn't bode well for her professional life either if this is the way she handles crises. She was a major disappointment to me, which lessened the impact of the romance. However, as far as secondary characters go, I loved Logan's family--a big loving group of sports-loving, sports-playing folks, friendly and warm.
Title - 2.5 stars - I didn't understand the title at first, but halfway through the book there's a quote that explains, "...Logan sounds like he might be easy to catch, but hard to hold." OK, although I think it sells Logan short since he's a very responsible guy, but I get it now.
Cover - 3 stars - The guy on the cover is great looking, but a black/white/gray cover isn't particularly appealing.
Overview - 3 stars - I guess you'd call this a sort-of office romance story. Logan is thrown into a situation that he's totally unprepared to handle, despite the fact that he's a strong and responsible guy. But since he's out of his comfort zone, he comes to rely on the nanny Isabella more than he might have otherwise. This ultimately leads to romance. While this might have been wonderful (with sexual tension filling the first half of the book and the culmination of a great relationship finishing it up), I was instead left feeling dissatisfied. Isabella, the supposed wonderful and dependable nanny, totally mishandled the situation with Logan. Although she made arrangements for a temporary replacement, she totally dropped the ball and lost my respect. If she couldn't handle her personal life, how could anyone rely on her in her professional life? Logan, rightfully upset, disappointed me with his easy acceptance and forgiveness. Not only did she hurt him, but she potentially hurt his daughter as well. I couldn't get past that, so the book lost points for me.
This was a really good start to a series1 I thought the characters of Logan Hart and Isabella Bennett were great. Their romance was sweet and touching, and I enjoyed their dialogue. The chemistry between them was great!
Logan is a professional baseball player who is suddenly told he is a father by an ex. The baby is thrust into his care as the ex takes off. Isabella is the nanny Logan hires to take care of the infant. As the two spend time in close proximity, they find it impossible to deny their attraction.
This was a fun one!
First I have to admit that soccer is my favorite sport and reading about soccer stars one of my favorite past times. Logan learning about and failing in love with his infant daughter was a great story in itself. But when we add the strong no nonsense Isabella to the mix this made for an outstanding read. There was conflict, heat and a sweet baby. Loved it.
This was a great book. Loved everything about it. The chemistry between the main characters was great. The support cast was wonderful
I really liked this book was good an well written with good characters cant wait for more from this good series so far. would recommend
Logan was left with a child and needed to hire a nanny, Isabella. I really enjoyed the build up of their relationship and the chemistry between them.
This story made me laugh out loud multiple times. Take a man who is completely out of his element, throw in a baby, and then add the woman who is going to teach them how to be a family. Mix in some sexual attraction and you've got one heck of a story. Katie Rose writes fantastic sports romances filled with humor and Hard to Hold was no different. I couldn't put this book down and read it cover to cover in about 24 hours. The book drew me in and made me want to continue reading. I love Katie Rose's style and look forward to more from her. This book was a great 5 stars and I can't wait for the next one.
2.5
To be honest I didn't really had a clue what it was about when I started this book today. So I was pretty surprised when I found a MSL star with an illegitimate baby being dropped on him and hiring a nanny.
I really enjoyed the setting as I haven't read much similar. Unfortunately the story couldn't live up to my expectations.
Everything felt very rushed, the story as well as the relationship between the characters and the development of the characters. I hadly felt any chemistry between Logan and Isabella which decreased my enjoyment with the book as well.
There were some cute moments but overall the story couldn't emotionally touch me. It had me entertained for a few others but that's it.
I really loved author Katie Rose’s Bad Boys of Baseball series, so I was very happy to give her new Hard to Play series a shot and I liked this book, but I didn’t love it and it wasn’t without some issues.
Professional soccer player Logan Hart is handed a baby by a one night stand and he becomes an instant dad with no clue what to do, a call to his sister and the next day he has a gorgeous nanny living in his house. I’m pretty sure you can guess where this goes, and it did but there was a bit of a twist and a few complications along the way (although in all honesty there were a lot of unanswered questions as well).
At first I didn’t really like Logan; he seemed arrogant and detached and obviously use to everyone doing what he wanted so I kind of enjoyed the fact that his nanny, Isabella (Bella) put him in his place from the start. As the book went on, Logan really stepped up and I enjoyed watching his feelings about the baby change over the course of the book. There was no doubt Bella was devoted to the baby and knew what she was doing, but between her wishy washy behavior towards Logan and a very selfish and immature act, I can’t say that I really liked her. The fact that it didn’t take them any time at all to go from “we can’t do this” to “let’s do it every minute we can” was another issue considering they should have been worried about the consequences for the baby if they didn’t work out. They both were very dedicated to what was best for the baby, but I honestly never felt like they connected emotionally as a couple. Sure they enjoyed a physical relationship and they were building a friendship and trust, but I just didn’t buy the rush to the “I love you” stage.
The whole paternity issue in this book wasn’t handled well and there was never any mention of a birth certificate and if Logan was named on it as the father, so the way the situation with the runaway mother also didn’t add up especially considering there wasn’t a lawyer present or a notary.
While I was a bit disappointed in Hard to Hold, I’ve always enjoyed Ms. Rose’s work and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
