Avery Sparks, fire chief of Chase, Nebraska and she thrives on natural disaster until she is facing Jake Mitchell. They have a history together and they known each other for long time. They shared one kiss a year for last three years and he showed up to their 10 year high school reunion, it really made Avery uncomfortable.
Jake enjoyed helping others and he feels he could help more people by moving to bigger city. When he is back in Chase and facing Avery again, it brought back memories from last year when they shared a kiss while tornado is raging outside.
Now they are facing each other again and he was itching to bug Avery again. There is another tornado and they were trapped inside trailer, While tornados raging outside, they couldn't keep their hands off each other and they give into their pull.
Once they are out of trailer, Avery is back to being Fire chief and Jake is trying to help out anyway he can and he is called to DC for his new position. Now he will have to decide if he will leave Avery again.
Avery and Jake's family were close until Jake move away and it put a strain in their relationship and Jake wants to help Avery find her happiness with her family but he has to find out what had happen to them after he left for National Guard.
Will he take the job in DC and leave her again or stay with her and finally grant Avery's wish...
Story was solid towards the end but Avery was a bit frustrating in the beginning. I did enjoy the ending.

To be honest, I was a little nervous before starting Twisted Up... When you pick up a new book in a new series by someone whose writing you usually love, and there are tropes you typically love (hello, friends to lovers, second chances, small town, high school reunion...), there can be a lot of expectation there, and thus quite a bit of potential for being disappointed.

I'm here to tell you that those nerves were completely unnecessary and that Erin Nicholas? DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

Twisted Up is the first in Ms. Nicholas's new Taking Chances series, set in Chance, Nebraska. It focuses on Avery Sparks and Jake Mitchell, two vibrant characters who share a long history beginning in childhood. They truly grew from friends to lovers before a devastating break immediately following graduation instigated by her cruel grandmother. Years later, Avery's returned as Chance's fire chief, and has proven her worth as an able leader and linchpin of its emergency preparedness and response team. As their 10th high school reunion approaches, she's again preparing for yet another twister. Jake's coincidentally back in town after a stint with the National Guard, specializing in emergency services, and is now working with FEMA.

Mother Nature does her thing and gives Jake and Avery a chance to rediscover that sometimes a storm can shake things up in a good way, and perhaps, blue skies lie beyond.

Ms. Nicholas's written real, funny people we'd enjoy being friends with, and surrounded them with a warm community we want to visit over and again. If it weren't for the tornadoes, I'd want to move to Chance!

Fortunately we have more to look forward to--and the next books can't come soon enough!

Every single time Erin comes out with a new book, I think to myself "there is NO WAY she can top herself again..." and EVERY SINGLE TIME I am absolutely blown away!

Completely Yours was, phenomenal. 5 stars all around! Kiera and Zach both possessed qualities that really reminded me of myself in many ways. This truly helped me connect to both of them, and also made me get completely sucked in to the book the entire time. I literally couldn't put it down.

I always want to write reviews that leave the person reading it totally blown away, but I swear I just cannot do this book total justice! Her writing has continued to grow, and Erin Nicholas knocks it out of the park with Completely Yours. Just get the book. Honestly. You won't regret it.
