A group of warrior brothers cursed to live in stone always watching, never participating. Great chemistry between Damian and Casey. Lots of adventure and hot sex. Loved the epilogue introducing the next couple.
I can't wait to meet the rest of the brothers and also learn more about their sorcerer leader, Nico/Nick.
What a unique story! I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised and wanting more at the end of this novel. I can't wait to get started on the next book! Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT! I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys reading a well thought out novel with a couple of delectable twists!
While I like fantasy and do not mind if some erotica some erotica, I felt that this was just soft porn. The story behind it was interesting and I would have enjoyed it more of there had not been so much sexual content. I forced myself to finish the book so I could give an honest review.
I want to thank the author/publisher for providing me a copy through Netgalley in exchange for a honest review; all opinions are my own.
Stone warriors, magic, gunfights, romance and more!
In this fist book of the Stone warriors series. It is a loose spin off of the Vampires in America series that focuses on magic and sorcerers instead of vampires. There is a brief mention of vampires but this series is still very much stand alone and you wouldn't need to read the other to enjoy this one.
I really enjoyed this book from the first paragraph. The opening scene sets a fast and exciting pace that throws you straight into the story and makes you excited to keep truing the pages. We begin with Casey on the run from some bad guys. I'm not going to spoil anything but in her escape she manages to find and wake up a stone warrior that her boss had mentioned had been out in the world but she thought was just a story. She has a slight magic gift that she uses to locate magic artifacts. The warrior she woke up is Damian. He had been cursed millennia ago and now he wants to find his friend/boss (Nick from the ViA series) and free his fellow warriors that were also cursed.
There is a lot of action and intrigue that keeps you guessing and reading, wondering what will happen next. There are also some pretty steamy love scenes mixed in there as well. I really enjoyed this story and this new avenue that Reynolds has opened in the Vampires in America world. There has always been some magic in her vampire books but it was never the focus. I like how she is using the same world and just expanding on it. I am curious to see what happens as the series continues. We have three more warriors that need freed and I am assuming that Nick will get his own HEA as well in there somewhere.
There are still a few unanswered questions in my mind after finishing the book but I hope they will be answered in later books. There is a little teaser in the last chapter that hints of the next book so we will see.
Decided not to Review. A comment has been left for the publisher.
Looking for action and a strong male and female character. Then you must read D.B. Reynolds first book in the Stone Warriors series: Damian.
Damian was a fierce warrior that was betrayed by one of his own. Trapped for centuries in darkness and obscurity. He was finally set freed and out for revenge on the one who trapped him.
Cassandra is a hunter with a special talent. That of sensing magic. She may need those talents for the assignment she was assigned was anything but ordinary.
When she thought, her life was over out of the shadows came a gorgeous warrior carrying a sword and an attitude to match.
Damian was hot and wild with a well-developed plot. It was well worth the time it took to read. I got immersed into the story rather quickly. By the end, I knew, I was going to follow the series to the end.
