286 Pages
Publisher: Thomas & Mercer
Release Date: July 19, 2016
Fiction, General Fiction (Adult), Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Police Procedural
The book is set in Eugene, Oregon. Detective Wade Jackson is placed in charge of the Violent Crimes unit when his Sergeant is hospitalized for poison. No sooner than he received his temporary position, a call is routed to him of a multiple shooting. When the officers arrive, they find a woman shot but alive and a dead man in a marijuana nursery. They begin canvasing the area and find a possible suspect. Upon notifying the next of kin, they find more suspects. Now they have more suspects than officers. The poisoning of the Sergeant does not seem to be an accident when another victim turns up at the hospital with the same symptoms. The team is literally racing the clock to find out what is happening and stop it before any of the victims die.
The book is fast paced, well developed characters, and is written in the third person point of view. I have been reading books by this author for years and am never disappointed. This book is no exception. I read it in one sitting. If you like police procedurals with a real cast of characters, you will enjoy this book.
This novel was fast paced with plenty of suspects and lots of action. It is well written and a good addition to the series.
Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

More people are hospitalized and when Evans discovers a link between the poisonings and edible pot, the detectives begin to suspect that the product tampering and shootings are connected.
