Catherine always gives us love stories. One that touches the soul and the heart. One that makes you feel as though you are in life with the characters.
Mary is strong, independent and has no time for games. She's not looking for a quick romp in the sack until . . .
Glen is a pilot who does his best to keep their long-distance relationship in check.
But of course, life always throws things at us that we are not expecting.
Another winner! Ms. Bybee always delivers a delightful tale filled with great characters. A few twists and turns along the way make this an enjoyable read. Enjoy! NetGalley and Montlake Romance provided an advanced review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I loved the story of Mary and Glen. I enjoyed the way the storylines of the couples intermingled and if you read the other book in the series you know the history of Dakota and Walt. This book brought you through a full range of emotions and themes; humor, laughter, suspense, disgust, and psychosis.
One of the important lessons that the book touches upon is that the right person for you might not always be what you thought they would be like and sometimes crazy people don’t appear crazy on the surface and you have to be careful. Regardless of your situation, love and friendships are vitally important. Another important point in the book is that often times family isn’t just the traditional idea of what a family looks like, and it’s never too late in life to find love.
I found myself flipping through the pages in eagerness to find out what happened next. I noticed some of the clues throughout the story, but didn’t know until the last bit of the book, so I thought that was well-written. No one wants to know the whodunnit too early in the game. Looking forward to more from this author and going back to check out her other series that she’s written.
I've enjoyed reading all the Not Quite books and this one did not disappoint, another wonderful read!
I think I have already reviewed this book, but again I would state that this book was another hit, great characters, the storyline was atypical but really well done. I love Catherine Bybee's novels. No two books are alike.
It’s tough for me to decide where to start gushing about this book. I enjoyed the follow up with other couples, Walt and Dakota in particular. Mary’s and Glen’s dates were extravagant and over the top. It was cool, but wow. The conflict was great, even if she was a little too trusting of someone I always thought was suspicious. Things were mildly predictable, but I loved it all. I can’t express how much I loved the ending especially. Oh, and Mary Francis!!!
Not Quite Perfect was actually quite awesome. I can’t get enough of this series!
I’ve been in a mood for a sweet & fun contemporary romance to sink into – and I’m so glad Not Quite Perfect was on my reading list because it hit it perfectly.
I adored the other books by Catherine that I’ve read, so I knew a little of what to expect going into Not Quite Perfect. I know she writes fun, witty, and likable characters. Not to mention, a swoony love interest. But I’ve also come to notice that she writes an element of mystery around the plot to keep the characters, and us, on our toes and I love it.
Told in both POV of Glen and Mary, we get two people who are both strong and independent, yet vulnerable in their own way. They come together after a year of flirtations, even though Glen is not at all what Mary wants in her life and start to build something… not quite perfect but yet, perfect for them. I loved the build up of their relationship – working through the kinks that would ordinary keep them apart. Their relationship is the FEEL GOOD romance and I ate it up.
In addition to the romance, I loved the relationships of all the characters. There are small threads that link everyone together and it was fun getting to know each one in turn. Yes, the characters are present were in the previous novels but I don’t feel it is necessary to enjoy Mary and Glen’s story.
As I mentioned, there is an element of mystery woven into the plot. It’s very spoilery, so I wont go into detail but I liked how it was handled in the end, even though I caught on as to what/who was going on pretty quick.
All in all – I (obviously) enjoyed it! It’s a fun, sweet, feel good romance that will be well loved by many. Catherine writes amazing characters and romances. I highly recommend it!
This is more than just a romance .. there is family in there and a good bit of suspense, and it all adds up to a very readable novel which I couldn't put down.
The central character, Mary, is someone who has always looked after herself both emotionally and financially and has good morals. Glen, on the other hand, comes from money and has been know as a bit of a player in the world of women, so on paper at least these two look totally incompatible - and that's without taking into account that they live in separate states some distance apart. However, as they say, love will find a way and the biggest obstacle here has nothing to do with either of them, but the person who decides to make Mary's like a misery. As a therapist, she finds herself looking at each of her clients and wondering - is it them?
The story reaches crisis point and all questions are answered.
Although this novel is obviously part of a series, it is an excellent stand alone read and one which I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending to readers who enjoy romantic suspense.
I was hooked from the first page! This is a great story with some chicklit and mystery – all in one! I read this book as a standalone and loved every page! Lots of swoon worthy (just enough heat) and breath gasping (who did it) moments. I could relate to Mary in being so independent that one struggles with allowing another person help, even when there could be danger ahead. Fast-paced book that you could read while getting a pedicure or relaxing by the pool!
Not Quite Perfect is the fifth book in the Not Quite series by Catherine Bybee. Mary and Glen had some cute bantering going on in the beginning. She's been fighting off his interest for a while now, because he's pretty much a player, and he'll pretty much admit to it too. Still, they both have this attraction that's hard to ignore. I like Glen. He seems to have his priorities in order, and forr being such a player, he also seems to give up that title fairly easy. Mary's had a rough life, and I loved that she was able to have an almost parent like relationship with the nun that practically raised her. They were cute. I enjoyed this story quite a bit. It had some humor, some suspense, and some steamy-ness without going over the top.
