Saving Hamlet by Molly Booth was fun! I liked Emma and her love of Hamlet. I've never read Hamlet, but now maybe I should. The time travel aspect was really neat, and I loved the idea of seeing a show at The Globe Theater while Shakespeare was there. What a fun element to add to the story! You're going to get a huge dose (possibly an overdose) of drama when you read this, but that's high school for you!
I really enjoyed this book and feel that young people, particularly those with an interest in drama, would enjoy it as well. This book is may be a little far-fetched, but if you are able to suspend your belief, it's an enjoyable read and an interesting look into the world of Shakespearean and Elizabethan theatre.
This book was FANTASTIC AND FUN! I can't get over what a joy it was to read the adventure of your average theatre nerd dumped into one of the most precarious and important theatrical moments in history.
When I teach Hamlet and Macbeth to my 12th graders we talk about what would have happened had Shakespeare not been around to advocate for the theatre and what would our world look like today and it's always a fun exercise so I'm delighted to have this book to recommend to my kiddos as a follow up to that discussion and as something to read excerpts from when we do that activity!
