A good but not great thriller. This was the first Newt Gingrich book that I've read, and I certainly enjoyed his insight into Washington life and politics. The overall plot of the book was very interesting, though perhaps a tad cliche (a mysterious terrorist who is more interested in getting personal revenge than in carrying out terror, moles high up in the government, kidnappings). While I did generally like the overall feel and writing of this book, some of the characters weren't developed or fleshed out very well. Maybe it would have helped me to read the earlier book first, as this is a sequel.

While "Treason" isn't particularly ground-breaking in its genre, it is fun to read! If you just want a solid novel to unwind with and enjoy then, by all means, pick up this book.

I received a digital copy of this book for free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I express in this review are entirely my own.
