Beautiful writing but I did find the story hard to get through at times.

DNF'ed around 35% - I was excited for this Chinese fantasy novel to be translated, but after talking with many of my friends they clued me as to the controversy surrounding this title and I can not in good faith continuing reading it or promoting it.
