I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author
I received a free copy of this book from HouseParty/Chatterbox for a fair and honest review. This is the first book by Sarah Fox that I have read, and I am looking forward to more. The main character, Marley McKinney, is a thoughtfully developed character. She is strong, loyal, and pained in the best ways. She makes a great protagonist. The book does suffer a bit from what I call "first book syndrome," which is when the author has to put in information describing the town and local characters in the first book. Sometimes that can detract from the plot because of the space it takes up, but it is very minimal in this book. The plot is well thought out, and the clues are there for you to catch to try and solve the mystery before the main character. The pace was steady, with a couple twists. I really enjoyed it, and look forward to more books in the series.
I really enjoyed this first book in a cozy mystery series. It had a fantastic small town setting with the backdrop of a pancake house. The characters were great, especially the main one, Marley McKinney. The storyline was fast moving and interesting and involved Marley spending a few weeks in Wildwood Cove to oversee her cousin's pancake house while he was ill. The cousin is murdered immediately upon his release from the hospital and Marley needs to find out who the killer is for her own safety.
There were lots of possible suspects and some red herrings. I loved this one!
Easy read and flows quickly. Great if you need something to read for the airplane or by the pool!
This is a fun, warm read. A cozy mystery, which I don't usually like, was done very well. I enjoyed it.
I received a free ebook of Crepes of Wrath through the House Party Chatterbox program. #RHMysteryPack #Sponsored
This is a good introduction to Marley, the Flip Side Pancake House, Wildwood Cove and the townspeople living & working there. Since it's the first book, I felt it was more 'introductory' and didn't delve very deeply into relationships, but I hope subsequent books will be more involved in that area. This was a nice cozy mystery, perfect for summer reading at the pool.
Marley’s uncle Jimmy is killed. She comes across stolen goods in her uncle’s workshop that makes it appear as he was a thief. Now Marley must figure out what to do with the pancake house and who could have killed her uncle.
Great cozy mystery. Likeable characters, good story line, well written and quick read. It also has a yummy section with recipes from the Flip Side Pancake house. A win-win for anyone that gets this book.
I received a free copy of this book from Chatterbox in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. The characters are all really likeable (or dislike-able!) and I felt the author did a great job of helping the reader get to know these characters. I loved the setting..I am a sucker for a setting near the beach! While reading it I didn't know it was only the first in the series, I thought I was going to get to go back and start a new-to-me series. Now I will have to wait to read the the follow up books. I will for sure read any new books in this series as well as check out other books by this author as I really liked her writing.
I loved this book it was a great story and I love mystery. It starts out with the pancake house and the people seems like a tight knit community. The characters are well written. It makes you want to keep reading. The story line is very good about Marley coming to help her sick uncle who is in the hospital and then is found dead on the beach. Great book I would highly recommend it and I look forward to more from this author.
