I asked for this book when I was going through a period of extreme fascination with bookbinding. It's a more advanced take, with a brief section at the start about the basics, but the amazing art pieces the author produced, while beyond my own skill level at the time, were a treat for the eyes and downright breathtaking. A commenter on amazon posted a link to a document of notes by the late author, which I'm very excited to delve further into. The book, in my opinion, is well worth your time if you have any interest at all in bookmaking, whether you take on any of the projects shown, or just want to admire the beauty and craft skill that was involved in creating them.
An interesting book but quite difficult to look at as an e book
I found this book to be one of the best books on how to make handmade books. This book has step-by-step instructions from beginning to end on how to create your own personalized handmade book. I wanted to learn how to bind a book for a friends birthday and I used this book and created a beautiful book she just adored! I recommend this book to anyone at any level!
What a fun book about making books. Easy & clear instructions make this book easy to enjoy.
Very beautiful book about beautiful books. As a librarian I adored the historical aspect and learning about where the various book forms came from. The pictures were lovely and the instructions were very clear.
The narration style of the instructions wasn't too technical and made it a genuine pleasure to read.
