A fun, light read as part of the series. But it fell a little flat. Lost my interest- had trouble connecting with the characters.
A great romance full of love and emotion a short read ideal for a lovely summers day
Thank you Netgalley for a copy for an honest review
She's Got a Way is the third book in the Echo Lake by Maggie McGinnis. The Echo Lake series is a series of standalone audit contemporary romances. This is the first book I have read in the series and the first book I have read from author Maggie McGinnis. This is a sweet summer romance that I enjoyed. I did find myself getting a bit bored in some places where the plot was lagging a bit, but overall I thought this was a good story. I think fans of small town romances will enjoy this one.
In She's Got a Way we meet our main characters Gabi and Luke. Gabi works at an all girls school and Luke works with troubled boys, and right off the bat they seemed like a perfect match to me. But upon a close inspection, Gabi is a little hoity toity and Luke is much more the outdoorsy type. So when she rolls on in to his camp with a bunch of little princesses in tow, it does not seem like they will hit it off. But their story is so charming.
In fact, charming is the word I would use to describe this whole book. Echo Lake charmed me right alongside Luke and Gabi. This book was sweet and I am certainly interested in checking out more titles from Maggie McGinnis.
This is a quick chick-lit, and I really enjoy reading these sometimes. When I just need to relax, these books help me out. I really liked this one!
This was the third book in the series but it is completely fine to read it as a standalone. I liked the premise but didn't really like the execution as much as I thought I would. The relationship between the characters just fell flat and only at about 60% did I actually find myself interested. I would say this is an okay read as long as you go in not expecting much from it.
I didn’t like the premise, but I really liked a couple of the previous books in this series, so I wanted to give this a shot. Unfortunately, I found most of it boring. Too much time spent on camp life and dealing with the girls and not enough time spent on the romance. The chemistry was also lacking between Gabi and Luke. Luke was too prickly and he comes across as sexist at times. When his past story is revealed, it wasn’t as impactful as I would have wanted. I liked Gabi in the beginning, but then she started being a scaredy cat and too much of a pushover. I do like the Luke is honest about his feelings and they do have some sweet moments, but the romance doesn’t even pick up until the 50% mark and it’s fade to black for the intimate scenes. The writing is good, so I went 3 stars. This story was just too tame. A nice story.
