This is a detailed book about the abuse and neglect of the author and her siblings. Katherine and her 7 siblings never knew love and received nonstop abuse from their mother. She tells how they were taken from their mother, but still had to have visitation with her. Non supervised
At the end she details ways the foster system could be fixed. She feels our society has failed the children in our system which I agree. When I was 10-12 my family had foster children. Most luckily were newborn and were adopted within days. But some live their entire lives in foster care or group homes. At 18 they are set loose most without even high school degrees. Very few have any support from family. A great book to see how the system works and how we each can help children caught in the system.
Most are not capable or interested in fostering but many of us could. But contacting people in charge, emails and letters make people take notice. If you read my review on Goodreads I have some helpful highlights you can read.
I received this book as an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. This did not affect my review in any way.
