Erin Richardson was from a wealthy family in a small town in Virginia. She had always been a rebel and a disappointment to her prim and proper family. She had stayed away for so long now that she didn't know if she would ever be welcome again. She had experimented with drugs, gotten tattoos and lived a generally "bad girl" lifestyle. She had been in love with Sam Barnes since she was nine years old. He was over ten years older than she was but she had always felt he was her hero. Until she threw herself at him at fourteen years and was rejected. He had always been the only man she had ever wanted, though.
Sam thought Erin was beautiful but he felt he was way too old for her. She deserved someone younger and closer to her age. In order to try and keep her away, he shot her down but he could see the hurt in her eyes every time he did that. He just needed to stay away from her to protect her because all he had ever wanted was her.
Erin was on the run from a drug runner in the Virgin Islands. She had come home because she didn't think she could go anywhere else but she wasn't sure she would even be welcome by her family. She had made such a mess of things the last time she was home. She was dyslexic but no one ever knew it and they just saw her as lazy and unmotivated. She felt stupid and without value. Sam figured out what her secret was and he just wanted to protect her from her family and from the threat to her life. But, would he be able to protect her and keep his distance? It was going to take a herculean effort and he didn't know if he was up to the challenge.
I liked the story and it was fairly well written. I didn't like the foul language or more descriptive sex scenes. It didn't think it was really pertinent to the story and just decreased those who might otherwise be interested in reading this story.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
