This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

This is a book from 2016 that a came across in my TBR pile. Opens with Mary Jane Parker going to the Brothers of Mayhem Motorcycle club to ask for protection for her and her boss of 70 years of age Jimmy who owns some shops around town. They are having to pay money to another gang and are now looking for help. Once they finally go back to talk to Jimmy they see he has been killed, also a warning that she is next. Strom the President of the club decodes to protect her.
The story takes a turn when Storms' father is released from prison and comes back to the club. His character is more than an awful person he is just evil. Along with a few other characters in the story that moves this book along. This book really does have good and evil. You see that is the good in Mary Parker and also where she grew up. Also, she is someone who can defend herself which added to this story.
The sex scenes can at times be intense but go along with the character. You also find out what happened to his sister from the other book. I also was surprised by what happened before the ending leading up to the end. Overall a good book

FULL HEAT - Carla Swafford

#2 in the Brothers of Mayhem series

Plot - 3 stars - Mary Jane is getting pressured from a MC for "protection." When her friend is killed, she looks to the Brothers of Mayhem for help, which is when she gets involved--instantaneously--with Storm. The love-at-first-sight scenario, in this environment, seemed pretty unbelievable, and Storm's whole shift in personality didn't really work.

Writing - 3.5 stars - Swafford worked hard to build believable histories for his characters

Characters - 2.5 stars - This is where the book faltered for me. Storm is the MC president and an ex-con. As a typical MC participant, of course he's dismissive of women, wants what he wants, is violent, and he's loyal to the Club. Swafford tries to make him different by having him "allergic" to alcohol and a tender guy to Mary Jane. He's certainly got a lot of issues, no thanks to his abusive father, but he's a MC guy, and the way she tries to soften him doesn't really work. It just makes him seem kind of wishy-washy and not the strong-to-the-core guy he would have to be to lead the club. Mary Jane, for her part, is also unusual in that she was brought up in an Amish-like commune and has supposedly only lived in "civilization" for a few months, but she runs a business and dated and seems pretty savvy for such an innocent upbringing. Her relationship with Jimmy is weird, and her fighting ability just doesn't fit.

Title - 3 stars - Nothing noteworthy. It follows with the rest of the series and contains the word "heat" which, obviously, refers to the hot and explosive sexual scenes between them.

Cover - 3 stars - Not bad--a hot guy (not showing naked abs, which is refreshing) on a motorcycle, which definitely sends us in the right direction.

Overall - 3 stars - The characters were the sticking point for me. Although neither of them is unlikeable, they both seem a little off. Neither fits the usual mold, which is OK, but their personalities feel disjointed. Swafford makes a good effort to build back stories that make sense, but Storm and Mary Jane just didn't click for me, and I found myself frustrated with them more often than not. That being said, the story was interesting, with Storm's father angling to take over the presidency of the club. All while Mary Jane is being pressured by a rival club. Problems are coming from all directions. It was the disconnect between the normalcy of the characters and the crazy aspect of their lives that didn't work for me, I guess. Good...and I will probably finish up the series to find out Wolf's story...but not a favorite.

Great read! I could not put this book down. It's got romance, danger, steamy hot love scenes, and a great story. I was completely engrossed in this book and cared deeply about these characters. Storm has lived through hell and is the president of an outlaw motorcycle club but he is still basically a good man with a caring heart. Mary Jane is the warmhearted free spirit who soothes Storm's demons. I loved these characters who happen to have phenomenal chemistry. This is the second book I have read by Carla Swafford, the first being Hidden Heat, book one of this series (and another great read), and I love the way she writes. I can't wait to read Wolf's story.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The inconsistencies in this book and the logic are what really killed it for me. Storm goes into jail a prospect and comes out president because his dad was the former president and because he did time for the club? No women at the clubhouse? Most of the club disrespecting the pres in some way (walking out with his dad, disobeying orders, laughing at him, obvious relief at hearing he had sex with a woman) and getting away with it? There's just a lot here that didn't really make sense to me. I did not believe Storm a leader at all. Then there's Mary Jane having throw down with a woman who used to do stuff with Storm (apparently not sex though because of the club's relief at MJ's declaration that they had sex). That seemed out of character. Storm has some pretty serious issues stemming from his time in jail. There's also a bunch of stuff going on with MJ and a rival of Storm's. His VP goes MIA. He reunites with someone important. The plot is simply all over the place. All in all, the story is not for me. I won't be continuing the series despite a mild curiosity about the two people who remained loyal to Storm: Wolf and Cutter. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. Neither are Vs. There is rape and abuse.

Another good MC story. Storm is the ultimate bad ass biker with a troubled past. Mary Jane was the perfect sassy woman to turn his life around.
