The Night Draws In by C.H. Alexander gave me mixed feelings. Alexander tells the story of Angela, a human child who was raised in the Fae world as a warrior with a destiny to fight a great evil with the help of her two new friends Barunum, an unknown mage, and Bailey, a seer. This is also the first book in what is going to be a series.
I have still not worked through all of my feelings about this book yet. The characters were original and unique, which I liked. However, I felt like the story was a little confusing in the beginning. For example, it took a while for me to realize Alessander and Mr. Menshikov were the same person, because of the way he is referred to throughout the story. I had suspicions that Alessander and Mr. Menshikov were the same man, but could not be sure until the last 2 or 3 chapters in the book.
I really want to like the book, because the characters are original and the story is interesting, but I feel like the beginning of the story could be written clearer to help readers get to know the characters easier. I am interested in seeing what the rest of the series will be like.
