I thought this would be a cute and uplifting book. Instead of a book that gave me the happy tinglies, it was Mormon bashing, and downing their concept of marriage. While I’m not a practicing Mormon I found this book offensive. Why not include some positivity rather than presenting it like an exhibit in the zoo?
Fascinating insights into a world that I'd never thought too much about before. You always see so many images of the young besuited Mormon men and this explores the other side of the coin - regarding marriage and expectations. It was a good read as it humanised these women and made you glimpse what might have driven their choices in a world very different to out own. Recommended read for anyone who has a curious mind and an open heart - to see that people are people regardless of their beliefs and that there's no such thing as a 'typical Mormon' any more than a typical New Yorker or typical Italian. I really enjoyed this read and recommend it 100% to people who enjoy reading about other cultures and societies who enjoy having their preconceptions challenged and find connections with other people interesting and diverting.
