Ooh I do love a good bookworm trope and Jamieson has done a great job getting Hayden and Beck together. Hayden with her studious work trying to cure cancer and Beck doing so much good but still thinking it isn't enough. I just loved these two and how much he wanted to push her to experience life. I loved the cast of characters supporting them too...it really made them three-dimensional. I can't wait to see what comes of the other fellas.
BODY SHOT by Kelly Jamieson. This book was filled with fun and exciting adventures for our lovely couple - Beck and Hayden. Beck, a former Navy SEAL, now runs a bar with his two buddies. He meets Hayden, and boy do the sparks fly! Hayden, a research scientist, is all about her job and taking care of her aunt and uncle. This is a tale all about opposites attracting. I really liked Beck - while he came across a bit of a fun for all playboy, he truly has a good heart and understands the need for seriousness when needed. Hayden is such a workaholic, even I was tired! I liked her too, as her heart was truly in the right place. The story flowed nicely and I enjoyed the interactions between these two. It was well written and a quick and enjoyable read. (received NetGalley ARC for honest review)
I have read a few books by Kelly Jamieson and I always enjoyed her books, so I have been looking forward to read "Body Shot".
I really liked the setting with the bar Beck owns and also that we have totally different characters with Beck and Hayden. Beck ist the Ex Navy Seal, always risking things while Hayden is a scientist who is totally focused on her work and doesn't do much besides working. I really liked how Beck got her busy with fun things and their dates were really special and enjoyable.
The chemistry between Beck and Hayden was really hot and I really liked them together. Although Beck was far away from being my type, just judging from his outward appearence, he was was a really great and fun guy, and not the typical bad boy. Hayden was nice and altough I could understand her ambitions, it took me a while to connect with her.
As we got to know the co-owners of the bar already, I am looking forward to read the stories of the other two guys.
This was really great! Loved the chemistry between Hayden and Beck! Ooo Man! There are definitely some hot and sexy times to be had between Hayden and Beck. They are really sweet together too! There's a bit of the opposites attract thing going on here. Hayden is really focused on her work and doesn't let herself enjoy life. Beck may seem to be an easy going, fun seeker, but he has a lot of heart! He's wonderful! Loved all the tequila info too, and both of their friends were great too! Loved the whole book! I pretty much read it straight through! I was forced to finally go to sleep at 75 percent, but picked it right back up when I woke up. A fun, sexy, light read that made me happy.
BODY SHOT - Kelly Jamieson
#1 in the Last Shot romance series
TEQUILA and SEX - What's not to love? - 4 stars
Plot - 4 stars - Hayden is a workaholic scientist who owns a company that is researching a cure for cancer. She's pretty and nice, but she spends too much time teaching and working in the lab. But when her friend brings her to a tequila tasting at a local bar, she meets a hot guy who happens to be one of the owners. Beck is an ex-Navy Seal who has opened the bar with his friends. He's a player and not looking to settle down, but something about Hayden pulls at him.
Writing - 4.5 stars - Jamieson always pulls me right into the story, probably because she builds such attractive characters. She went on a little too much about tequila, I thought, but she definitely showed her knowledge of the subject and obviously researched well. It was also very interesting to learn more about Beck's Navy Seal training and to see the camaraderie between him and his buddies, so well done on that front too.
Characters - 4.5 stars - This is always where Jamieson shines. She creates appealing and friendly characters, who also have some vulnerabilities, which makes them very approachable. Hayden is sweet and nice, trying to care for her elderly aunt and uncle while still maintaining a professorial job as well as her budding company. She's forgotten how to have fun, but she's willing and happy to try new things. I found her innocence to be charming, even though she's certainly got a strong and capable core. Beck is the hot playboy, happy to own a bar so he can meet hot chicks. But he also has an inner strength, and this is described as he gradually tells us more about his Navy Seal days, specifically the difficult training. He's facing his own demons with his family.
Title - 4 stars - It makes sense since one of the fun activities that occur occasionally at the bar are the body shots.
Cover - 3.5 stars - A sweet embrace with a hot guy and a beautiful girl. It definitely sets the stage, although it's fairly typical for this genre.
Overview - 4 stars - This book was, in turn, hot and fun and sweet. In other words, it covered all the bases and certainly kept my interest throughout. I particularly liked the characters. Beck is totally hot--an ex-Navy Seal who is handsome, has tons of money, and with a social conscience (although he doesn't usually tell people about those last 2 attributes). What I liked was his charm but, more importantly, his sensitivity to Hayden and her fears. He wanted to help her grow and expand her horizons, but he was careful about her and didn't push her too hard out of her comfort zone. It was nice that he found her idiosyncrasies to be cute, allowing for them by not surprising her and letting her have more control over each interaction, probably more than he normally would. With Hayden, I loved her playful side, which didn't come out very often. But when it did, she was funny with a dry sense of humor. Jamieson built well-rounded characters that are very appealing. I'm definitely looking forward to continuing with this great new series.
Couldn't get into this book. I ended up DNFing it. Maybe I'll try one of her others.
This story of Beck and Hayden was a good start to a new series. I really enjoyed both characters, and liked watching their relationship develop. This wasn't one of my favorites by the author, but it was certainly an enjoyable one to read.
Hands down one of my favorite Kelly Jamieson titles! Body Shot is super sexy, engaging and amazing! I can't wait for more books in the series! Hayden and Beck come together in a massively combustible fashion and are so darn sexy and cute it's almost sickening. Almost. What is really is, is a making for a wonderful book, with a fresh spin and voice that is a true must-read!
A thank you to NetGalley and Random House Loveswept for providing us with a copy of these books so that I could bring you this review.
I really enjoyed these books. I was definitely on a Kelly Jamieson kick when I read these a few months back and have to say I was not disappointed. I will admit that it made me want to drink and savor tequila with the way that Marco talks about it. He has so much passion when it comes to it that its really sexy. The interaction with both couples are amazing they both have great chemistry and helps each of reach the point they want.
I give both these books 5 tequila kisses...
Happy Reading... Adri
I really enjoyed Ms. Jamieson's Body Shot and like both main characters, even if I did get a little put out with Hayden and her world on my shoulder's view of life. I loved that Beck, the Ex-Navy Seal Bar Owner wouldn't put up with her no fun had here attitude.
I really liked this book was excellent an well written with good characters cant wait for more. would totally recommend
I was really pleased to get sent this book but I just couldn't get into it. I will try another one of her books soon.
Kelly Jamison is my favorite author I love all her books. Body shot was a favorite of mine I am all excited to read her next book can't wait!
What happens when you cross a bartending ex-Navy Seal with a geeky biochemist? Lots and lots of sensual, sexy chemistry with a bit of adventure thrown in for good measure. Low on angst, high on pleasure and two people falling in love without even realizing it made Body Shot by Kelly Jamieson a treat to read.
When Hayley Miles literally runs into Beck Whitcomb she has a hard time composing her geeky self so walking into a bar and seeing him serving drinks throws her life into a tailspin, funny thing is Beck is just as easily flustered and their explosive chemistry has them both acting out of character.
There was something so sweet yet so very sexy about the way these two interacted from the first time they met to their first intense sexual encounter and throughout this book. I loved how easy they were with one another and how they both shared so much about themselves and each other with very little prompting. It was like they just could not hold back from one another in any way, shape or form.
I loved that Beck was attracted to all parts of Hayley including her geeky mind and that he wasn’t threatened by how start she is or how important her work is to her. Sure he enjoyed getting her to take time out for fun, but he understood how important her research was and he supported it. While Hayley made some snap assumptions about Beck, she soon began to see what a great man and good guy he was and she was impressed by his accomplishments and his dedication. I love that she enjoyed peeling back all of his layers and really getting to know each and every part that made him special. They were both so good at that and that not only allowed the reader to really get to know these characters, but they got to know each other very well too.
Completely engaging and very entertaining Body Shot was an amazing romance from beginning to end and I am so looking forward to the next two books in this series.
