STUD FOR HIRE - Sabrina York

DUDE RANCH ROMANCE WITH A TWIST - 4 stars

#1 Stipped Down romance series

Plot - 4 stars - Hanna has come to a dude ranch for a bachelorette weekend. Since she's being manipulated and pushed into marriage to a man she doesn't love, she's primed for a hot and heavy weekend with a stranger. Logan, having desired her from afar for his entire teenage life, has now changed into a sexy and hot cowboy, not even recognizable from the kid he once was.

Writing - 4 stars - The story moved forward quickly and easily, with some nicely built characters and interesting plot line. This was more than just an instalove romance, there was a bit of a mystery, a bit of small-town drama, and some definite chick-lit family vibes.

Characters - 4 stars - Hanna is a quiet and introverted type, one of those women who sacrifices herself, putting everyone else first. Although this can sometimes be annoying, York manages to make her seem internally strong and not really a pushover, just an overly nice woman. She's gotten herself into a position that she can't seem to get out of. Logan is a sexy local who lost a bet and has to pay it off by helping out on the ranch. When he sees Hanna, he's reminded of all the feelings he once had for her even though she didn't realize it. He becomes a little manipulative himself, although she (and the reader) don't seem to mind. As we get to know him, we see that Logan is part of a large and extremely close family, and this makes him particularly desirable. (I'm a sucker for a man who loves his mother.)

Title - 3 stars - The title's fine, pretty self-explanatory. It does make the book sound a little more tawdry than it is.

Cover - 4.5 stars - Sexy man on the cover. Loved that the cowboy hat is mostly covering the man's face, which gives a tantalizing look at the cut body but leaves the face up to the reader's imagination.

Overview - 4 stars - Poor Hanna seems to be pushed around, no matter what. She's manipulated into an engagement with an unscrupulous but admittedly wealthy man. Then when she goes on the weekend get-together, she is kind of pushed into a sexy weekend with an admittedly hunky cowboy. The instalove factor is fairly believable since Hanna has decided to cut loose for one final weekend before settling down--Logan is her choice. As they get to know each other better, their chemistry and their life situations work well together to create a solid foundation for a relationship. I loved the characters York created, and the plot line was a bit different from the usual romance guideline, keeping my interest throughout.
