this story had way too many plot twists; and while there were some aspects of the story that were cute/adorable, most of it went into a little too unbelievable for me and just a little too weird at times.. not a book i would recommend.
Nick and Joelle were born on the same day. They each have lost a parent and they both work with their surviving parent. They live next to each other and have been best friends since birth. They enjoy skipping stones together at the lake and star gazing from either his roof or hers. They are inseparable and as they grow up and have friends, they remain best friends.
They have an attraction for each other, but for some reason they just don't think of each other as a couple although all their friends do. When they finally do become a couple Nick decides he needs to join the service and leaves Jo behind. She's so tormented over him leaving and even though He leaves for more than a year without communications the first time he leaves without communication. (Personally this was very far fetched in a cell phone time frame) Then when sent on his first mission he is to be gone for two year no communication again of any kind. Just struggled with that one especially when it was so much longer.
I finished reading this a couple of days ago, but it left me emotionally upset that I had to let it sink in before I wrote a review. There were so many twist and turns and I found myself not wanting to turn to the next page because I was so afraid what was going to happen. How would I handle it if it went the way I guessed it would at one point I considered walking away out of pure frustration i mean the intire first half of this book gets you totally invested in the book! HOWEVER, even being frustrated I still thought the book was good and I NEEDED to see what happened! After many tears and yelling at the author for what she did to me and the story lineI finished it! It my only wish is the author would have been a bit more careful with accuracy and timelines as they can be very distracting.
