The illustrations are great.

The concept is great.

The story is... forced.

It is great to have a book recognizing trailblazing women in politics, however, kids are not going to get some of the references. I didn't even get them, though suspected. (Example- Nellie and the word "mint"- I assumed she had something to do with the treasury. Looking at the picture, the context clues said first female governor. The timeline after the book said after she was governor, she was named Director of the Federal Mint.)

I think it would have been better if "hints" were not forced in, they felt even more confusing.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Loved everything about this book from the illustrations to the story line. Our kindergarten classes enjoy Isabella’s adventures.
