Most romances tout themselves to be the ones that have Hero and Heroine who are completely different from each other - a case of opposites attract, but rarely do they actually deliver. This Book delivers and boy does it deliver!
From the first encounter, I adored the MC's connections to each other - not only was it hilarious but it was heartwarming as well! And it is one romance that became my companion during a rainy day with a cup of coffee in my hand!
She was chaos. Boisterous, rule-breaking, authority-hating, crazy-streaked-hair chaos. Everything about her confused him. How could she be the opposite of everything he’d always liked, yet still set fire to his blood with a mere look?
Gina Silvano is a woman on a mission to find out who is vandalizing her cupcake truck - and no one, not even a nosy old lady or a rule touting cop will stop her from proving that her douche of an ex is the culprit.
She is one of the more fun heroines I have read about in recent times - she takes no excuses for her behavior and neither is she apologizing for it. But best of all, she was mature enough to compromise on things that needed a compromise without loosing herself in process.
Rick Boyd is a rule following cop - he is almost rigidly set in his ways - but it is easy to his point - he might follow the rules, but he does with the intention of actually protecting the public, even if they are the ones at fault.
He is rigid, she is free. He cares that laws are meant to be followed, she takes laws to be more of an advice. They are total opposites of each other, not just in looks, but in personality. And their feelings aren't hindered by the superficial.
“Of all the blowhard, hard-ass, rigid, by-the-book, arrogant, son-of-a-bitch cops I could have gotten strapped with, you seriously take the cake.”
“Of all the law-breaking, rule-bending, crazy, dangerous, risk-taking, breathtakingly beautiful would-be criminals I could get stuck with, you seriously take the cake.”
This romance was mostly hilarious, basically heartwarming and definitely well - written. I adored the characterizations and their romance. It is one romance that I wouldn't mind reading again and again!
And if you are a fan of a sweet romance with a hint of steam, then this one is definite pick for you <3
I have bought this book in ibooks and will read and review it soon as I am a fan of the author.
Gina is a crackup! She's like Lucy & Ethel in 1 person. She gets into the craziest situations.
She's "spying" on her own food truck because she knows her ex-boyfriend is breaking in and using it as a hookup spot at night. Rather than involve the police (because she doesn't trust them), Gina is going to catch Tony on her own.
Rick is one of the lucky cops who gets dispatched to stop Gina's peeping. Or at least when she's using neighbors' fire escapes.
This book was funny, sweet, sad at times but a great read overall. I loved Gina's capers!
