I wasn't a fan of the first book in the series, but as they're not long reads thought Id give book 2 a try. I was ok,but don't think I'll bother with others.

Sexy futuristic adventure…

Ahh, this series is only heating up! I love a good vs evil story and Ilara and Kei were in the think of it. A bit of Robin Hood thievery made for an interesting start, the sparks struck them both, putting them on a different path…

Ilara was the perfect heroine, putting herself before her own happiness while wallowing in (and chafing against) the alpha protectiveness Kei wrapped her in. Kei was fighter ready and was going to put his money and his muscle into Ilara’s quest. With Solae and Asirian able accomplices, the four took on a deadly mission. With steam and heat aplenty, there was also humour and lighter moments amid the darker plotline. It was a great mix, resulting in another great read in the series. Loved it!

Unlike it’s predecessor, this story was hot and sexy, full of drama, and had no dubious consent issues between our hero and heroine! Yay!

I actually really liked this story, which was surprising after the more negative response I had to the previous one. Ilara is a really interesting character, Kei makes for a great hero (and is an alpha male without feeling the need to keep Ilara sexually dominated 100% of the time, thank you), and the plot worked really well.

I do wish we had gotten a bit more of the world-building, though - we know it’s sci-fi, but this story doesn’t really emphasize it as much as the first one did. It could have easily taken place in the Roman Empire, Victorian England, or modern-day America.
