Review from 20012. Clearing out my feedback shelf.
We listened to this while on a road trip and it was absolutely hilarious and very enjoyable. On a less positive note, I found the mix of absurd farce with the darker story about child abuse to be a slightly uncomfortable mix.
A funny and entertaining read filled with interesting characters. I would definitely recommend this book to my students. Very timely.
I have always enjoyed Carl Hiaasen's books for adults. And now that hasn't changed since he got into book for younger audiences. The same wit and humor and seemingly unconnected characters.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
Survival reality tv gets the Carl Hiaasen treatment much to the delight of readers! His books are definitely funny in a “I know I shouldn’t be laughing but I just can’t help it” kind of way.

I had a lot of fun reading this. It had adventure, and it was HILARIOUS! That Derek Badger, what an IDIOT! Boneheaded, indeed. I read this book because I liked the movie Hoot, honestly. I enjoyed this book just as much as that movie, and I intend to read Carl Hiaasen's other teen books. They make especially good summer reads, I think. If I had a beach near me, that's where I would read his books. And boy, can he write an action scene! I can't wait to see this movie -- someone should get on that.
