Strongly recommended during this heatwave season, this book has everything you need for a healthy smoothie-based detox plan. After all, it's summer, and vacation time is the best to finally start that healthy lifestyle you always dreamed about. Meticulously, it features all the details of preparation, from the recommended blender to the recommended matches in terms of tastes - and colours too - as well as various health-issues (although in serious cases I always recommend asking your doctor first).
Easy to prepare, with ingredients within the moderate budget and seasonal, this book can be also used also when you just need some ideas for a new weekend smoothie. The choice is yours and there are plenty of alternative to choose from.
I can't wait to try some of the recipes!
A great collection of smoothies to improve metabolism , cleanse and purify our body.........
A superb collection of smoothies, many involving detox for your body. While the recipes are very well explained and set up, I would have liked a little more information on how each fruit or vegetable is involved in the process.
I'm a huge smoothie person. I tend to have a smoothie with protein powder mixed in every morning. This book has over 60 recipes and all of the ones I have tried so far have been super yummy. I don't always have time to follow a recipe in the morning, but just having made some of these, I now have ideas for making things on the fly. I have not yet tried the detox plans but will do so when I hit my first weight loss plateau of the year. I have not tried any of this author's other books but I really want to get the green smoothie book that she has out as well.
I recommend this book to all smoothie lovers who are looking for new and interesting ways to mix things up. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher.
A good selection in this book, will definitely be giving some of these a go
Gord and I have been starting our mornings with smoothies for many years. My smoothie includes protein powder, water (Gord uses grapefruit juice instead), fish oil (Gord puts Chia seeds in his instead), Greens+ Multi+ powder, frozen berries (usually raspberries or blueberries) and frozen wheatgrass juice. I find it's a filling healthy way to start my day.
Because we've been using the same ingredients to make our smoothies, I thought it would be interesting to get other ideas.
This book starts with an introduction to smoothie detoxes, the equipment you need and how to design your own detox plan. Top fruits and veggies for a detox are listed for skin health, stress busting, blood cleansing, better digestion and energy boosting ... which inspired me to buy more apples than usual, fresh kale and grapefruit today.
The detox plans are three to five days and there are six smoothies per day. The plans are:
* Metabolism
* Clean skin
* Energy booster
* Digestion
* Stress buster
* Purifying
* Probiotic
* Alkalizing
* Summer booster
* Immunity booster
* Weight loss booster
* January detox
Each chapter starts with information about what the detox is (for example, metabolism), what to do, why and when.
Each smoothie is clearly laid out with the list of ingredients, including a picture, how to make it, why it is so beneficial, what it does (for example, blood regulating, anti-inflammatory and hydrating) and a picture of what it will look like.
It's an inspiring colourful book to make smoothies for different reasons and I look forward to trying some.
